Your Opportunity

As an intern within our Analytical Lab you will gain experience in our corporate analytical laboratory. You will enhance your food product analytical attributes knowledge base. You will operate analytical equipment (i.e. GC or LC , pH, Aw, viscosity, color, % protein, %moisture, and density) for food categories. You will perform laboratory projects and create analytical reports within Smucker databases. You will assist with general laboratory upkeep, inventory management, and ISO 17025 Certification support. You will manage an individual analytical project requiring a presentation at the end of the internship

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

Nordson EFD designs and manufactures components for controlled fluid flow including desktop dispensing equipment, precision valves, tips, dual dispensing cartridges and syringes. The Summer 2023 Chemistry Lab Intern will l work in our solder paste R&D and manufacturing departments alongside department supervisors, chemists, and machine operators to assist with R&D activities, evaluate current manufacturing processes and develop and implement improvements. The internship will provide the student with exposure to a manufacturing environment while allowing them to create an impact on the organization.

Education and Experience Requirements
Highschool graduate or Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology or Materials science Ability to follow test plans Technical Report WritingComfortable working with chemicals and solder alloys Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

Mixed Environment of office, laboratory and manufacturing. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be able to lift up to 20lbs daily and 40lbs on occasion.

We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Intern for our Microbial Solutions site located in Newark, DE.

While in a hands on educational setting and under the close supervision of a Manager or Lead Technologist you will provide daily support to ensure that all laboratory functions are carried out. You will also learn how to carry out those functions within regulatory and GMP guidelines in accordance with 21 CFR parts 210 and 211.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Receive, unpack and organize customer samples for laboratory processing.

Assist in the preparation and aliquot reagents according to laboratory SOP's.

Prepare ethanol extracts.

Perform test streaks and subcultures.

Clean MALDI-TOF targets.

Perform cleaning of laboratory equipment as needed.

Restock consumables and materials required for sample processing.

Under supervision and guidance operate laser cutter.

Dispose of microbial cultures, chemicals, recyclables, sharps and glass in proper waste containers.

Learn and comply with all aspects of laboratory safety, safety stations, safety manuals, safety SOP's & MSMS/SDS sheets.

Perform all other related duties as assigned.

The following are minimum requirements related to the Laboratory Intern position.

Student currently enrolled in an accredited college/university degree program pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology or any related field

Minimum GPA of 3.0

Effective communication and listening skills in a teamwork environment.

Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects with a strong attention to detail
