Color Formulation & Technical Oversight Direct the development of accurate, repeatable color formulas for customers and production operations. Review and approve batch formulas, sample matches, and adjustments completed by lab staff. Lead complex color-matching projects and mentor team members on advanced techniques. Process Improvement & Quality Assurance Establish, refine, and maintain color-matching procedures, documentation, and lab protocols. Analyze results, validate outcomes, and ensure alignment with specifications and customer expectations. Drive corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and consistency. Technology & Equipment Management Oversee the use of color match software and automated tinting systems to ensure optimal performance. Manage conversion of manual formulas into automated platforms and maintain formula databases. Ensure laboratory equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and in good working order. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Customer Support Partner with production, sales, quality, and customer service teams to resolve color-related issues quickly and effectively. Supervises and directs departmental technical operations and human resources. 2. Promotes strong customer service orientation with a zero tolerance for inappropriate or suboptimal performance. 3. Acts as interdepartmental liaison resolving operational and technical problems within department and between laboratory and other departments as they arise. 4. Investigates specimen problems, service complaints and any delays in performance of procedures. 5. Provides training and schedules in-services for staff to meet regulatory compliance, to understand changing environments and support continuing education needs. 20% STAFF DEVELOPMENT 1. Enables and promotes employee development; provides coaching; counsels when appropriate. 2. Maintains effective relationship with peers; promotes good inter-employee relationships. 3. Leads by example according to mission, vision and values of OhioHealth. 4. Provides technical orientation and instruction of new personnel. Duties include, but are not limited to, the coordination of collections, assuring timely draws by all specimen collectors, escalating issues as necessary, and working as a phlebotomist as needed. Responsibilities: Perform all phlebotomy (venipunctures and capillary punctures)/processing duties as outlined in the departmental procedure manual. Follow proper procedures for patient identification and labeling of laboratory specimens. Operate and maintain departmental equipment, including but not limited to, handheld specimen collection devices, paging system, pneumatic tube system, computers and printers. Complete training when new procedures are introduced, or current procedures are changed. Collaborates with inpatient workflow coordinator to maintain a balance of resources between the ETC and inpatient areas in order to ensure needs of facility are met. Facilitate positive communication and interaction of shift members with internal and external customers through timely telephone response and dispatch for phlebotomy requests. Field calls from patient care team regarding pre-analytical issues including incorrect orders, investigate issues, offer solutions, and resolve problems within scope of ability. Handle problems appropriately and exhibit good judgement. Keep appropriate persons informed of problems and issues. Works with lab leadership to capture and track proper lab documentation of specimen collection delays, investigating issues and providing feedback for improvement. Promote shift-to-shift cooperation through consistent review of monitors, cancellation requests, draw comments, and add-on testing capability. Assist with performing safety and AIDET audits/observations with all phlebotomists. Assist with training/mentoring new employees and/or students, as needed. Perform routine inventory checks and complete ordering as required to maintain appropriate supply levels. Load patient specimen onto laboratory instruments within scope of training. Work as part of a team within home department to ensure work is completed efficiently, goals are met, and projects are completed in a timely manner.
