This position may assist with fine needle aspiration collection and NGYN and FNA screening. Proficiency testing and continuing education are required for all cytotechnologists. This position is required to keep daily workload records in accordance with CLIA '88. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Completion of cytotechnology program from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) school. ASCP certification or eligible required. Students may be hired at the job title equivalent of a future Cytotechnologist under the following conditions: Student is enrolled in a cytotechnology program at CAAHEP school with a completion date within six (6) months of hire. Student must pass the ASCP Board Certification at the first opportunity but no later than 3 months after program completion A Bachelor's degree is required for individuals registered by the ASCP after September 1, 1994. Good interpersonal and organizational skills required. This position requires attaining 90% on an internal proficiency test at the time of interview. This position requires passing annually the required CAP-PT (or approved alternative by CLIA). This position requires maintaining 80% proficiency on quarterly GYN CAP mailings as well as 24 continuing education credits each year. Position Summary The Molecular Technologist - Liquid Profiling is responsible for performing various molecular techniques that include, but are not limited to, blood processing and buffy coat extraction, RNA/DNA extractions, PCR, Next-Generation Sequencing, equipment maintenance, laboratory inventory, sample tracking and receiving packages. This position works under the direction of the supervisor and follows standard laboratory procedures and policies. Job Responsibilities Sample preparation, including blood centrifugation, plasma processing and buffy coat extractions. Performs RNA and DNA extractions for daily molecular testing and ensures correct patient labeling. Performs molecular techniques such as real-time PCR and Next-Generation Sequencing. Prepares Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) documents for nonconformance events observed during the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical clinical laboratory testing. Performs Proficiency Testing in a timely manner and submits results to Supervisors. Conducts validation testing for new clinical assays. Tracks, enters, and monitors patient files using the Laboratory Information System. Maintains laboratory equipment, including completing logs and maintenance, i.e. clean, sterilize, maintain, and shut down laboratory equipment, accessories, and instruments used in research experiments, daily and weekly as required. Follow the laboratory's proce dures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results. Maintain records that dem onstrate that proficiency testing sam ples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens. Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and pro cedural calibrations and maintenance performed. Follow the laboratory's estab lished policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable lev els of performance.
