Position Summary: Responsible for performing standard testing on petroleum products to ensure the quality meets or exceeds the specifications set forth by company and regulatory requirements and to assist with operations of the terminal as necessary. Major Accountabilities: * Setting up, calibrating, and operating laboratory equipment to analyze petroleum products, by-products, and water samples to verify they meet or exceed established specifications. * Record all data accurately in standard lab format and input results into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). * Report all irregularities to supervisor immediately. * Collect samples as required from the various collection sites. * Responsible for the safe and proper disposal of excess samples and containers. * Assist with accounting for and maintaining adequate inventory of laboratory spares such as chemicals and glassware. * Maintain a safe and clean working area at all times. * Participate in the Sunoco Lab Training Program. Education Requirement: High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in chemistry preferred. Experience Requirement: * Minimum of three years of petroleum laboratory or related industry experience preferred. * Must have the willingness to learn new tasks and progress through the Sunoco Lab Tech training program * Must have proficient computer skills (MS Outlook, MS Office, etc.) * Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills required * Ability to communicate effectively with other personnel and work in a "team" environment * Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks without constant supervision * Strong attention to detail Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
