Acts as a circulator in the case, connects monitoring lines, checks pulses, collects and sets up appropriate equipment for the case. Performs as a sterile assistant, assists the physician in scrubbing and maintaining a sterile field, assists the physician with catheter and/or equipment insertion and removal. Dresses and/or sutures insertion site following the procedure. Sets up arterial pressure line (if needed) or pulls sheath and obtains hemostasis. Assists in the use of arterial closure devices. Records, interprets, and calculates various types of data collected during the procedure. Maintains equipment, corrects equipment malfunctions and reports malfunctions for repair. Instructs technologists and others in the performance of technical procedures, operations of equipment, and collection and interpretation of data. Demonstrates knowledge of the proper operation of x-ray equipment used in the Cath Lab. Monitors and is responsible for quality assurance of the x-ray equipment. Histologists at IDEXX perform dissection, grossing, embedding, microtomy, special staining, and complex tissue diagnostics on veterinary samples from dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and all other pets big and small. Are you looking to make a difference in the lives of pets? The pet owner counts on it! In This Role: You will be Inputting sample information in the laboratory database. You will be stocking benches with necessary materials to make sure the technicians have everything they need. You may be running special equipment to prep samples for the histology technicians/technologists. You will be packing samples for storage. You will assure accurate and timely delivery of casework (and collateral materials) to remote pathologists. You will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting virtual microscopy (VM) systems which provide remote viewing & digital slide analysis capability to pathologists. You will organize and archive pending and completed VM cases. You will track VM system errors. You will troubleshoot VM system problems with pathologists, labs, vendors, IT and others. You will also be assisting with various administrative tasks and other duties as required. What You'll Need to Succeed: You possess a High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. It is not required to work in our lab, but if you had prior experience working in a histology lab, this experience would be a plus. You have a positive attitude and love to bring that energy into the lab every day to support your colleagues You are looking forward to working in a team You concentrate on the details and can work reliably and precisely You have a great sense of team spirit and responsibility You have strong computer skills - MS Office (i.e. Word, Excel, etc.) You have the ability to create and report on metrics You have strong organizational skills. You have excellent client service skills. Able to effectively demonstrate project administration skills and/or task management skills. Able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab - standing and sitting for extended periods of time, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability - close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. This is a laboratory, so there is potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals. What You Can Expect From Us: Hourly rates targeting: $21.00 / hr.
