Participates with development of protocols, lab manuals, new instrumentation, lab CQI or other laboratory developmental activities. Provides technical guidance to and be primary resource for various team members. Responsible for training new employees or co-workers on new equipment/procedures as applicable. Provides instructions on proper pre-analytical specimen collection, specimen handling, and storage guidelines for various body fluids and/or may collect specimens as necessary. Main Function: Responsible for processing specimens for reference laboratory testing. Report limited test results to ordering physicians. Acts as an information resource to clients. Trains new personnel as assigned. Performs other nontechnical functions as assigned. When required, initiates occurrence reporting forms. * Ensures immediate handling of STAT testing. Monitors pending work list periodically during the shift and at the end of the shift.
