Preferred Requirements Education: Bachelor's Degree from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology, or equivalent such as military training as defined by 42 CFR 493.1489, or have qualified at the Medical Technologist level by achieving a satisfactory grade on a HHS examination prior to 2/28/92 42 CFR 493.1491. Certifications: Registered with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT or CSMLS within 12 months of hire). Equivalency evaluation by ECE, NACES or AICE for non-US trained personnel must be completed within 30 days of hire.     ASHS Anatomy Lab Assistants are current ATSU students on the Mesa, AZ campus who have excelled in anatomy courses at ATSU and demonstrate enthusiasm for helping students succeed in these courses. The Anatomy Lab Assistant will: 1) assist with dissection during the Spring semester, and 2) staff the gross anatomy lab during open lab hours and ensure lab policies are followed, set up donors and models for lab sessions, and provide guidance for current anatomy students in their studies. The successful applicant will be able to help current anatomy students better understand course content, but is not expected to be a content expert. As such, they will be expected to refer the student to the anatomy faculty/other resources should additional support be necessary. This position is paid hourly and is estimated to be 10 to 12 hours/week. The hours may be flexible based on assigned tasks. Position Summary The Lab Assistant supports the Quality Control (QC) Department through sample coordination, documentation, laboratory cleaning, glassware preparation, inventory management, and support activities related to outsourced laboratory testing. This role ensures timely and accurate movement of samples, maintains laboratory readiness, and upholds compliance with all relevant SOPs, GMP requirements, and safety standards. Key ResponsibilitiesSample Coordination & Outsourced Testing • Accurately label, prepare submission forms, and prepare samples (raw materials, in-process, finished goods, stability) for submission to outsourcing laboratories following specific SOPs and regulatory guidelines. • Coordinate packaging and shipment of sensitive samples, including those requiring temperature-controlled transport. • Maintain a detailed tracking system for all outsourced samples. • Follow up proactively with outsourcing laboratories to confirm sample receipt, monitor testing progress, and expedite results as necessary. • File and archive sample submission forms, tracking logs, shipping manifests, and result reports (CoAs) in an organized manner. • Report any discrepancies in sample receipt, testing delays, or unexpected results to the QC Supervisor or QC Manager immediately. Laboratory Cleaning & Glassware Management • Perform meticulous washing, rinsing (including with deionized/purified water), and drying of laboratory glassware to ensure residue-free cleanliness for critical testing. • Autoclave, sterilize, or depyrogenate glassware and equipment per SOPs. • Maintain cleanliness and organization of lab benches, hoods, balances, and storage areas. • Perform routine weekly and monthly cleaning and decontamination of designated equipment and work surfaces. • Properly segregate and dispose of chemical, biological, and general laboratory waste according to safety and environmental regulations. Inventory Management & Supplies • Monitor stock levels of critical laboratory supplies, reagents, solvents, standards, and consumables. • Conduct routine physical inventory counts and update digital inventory records. • Generate purchase requests or requisitions for supplies based on minimum stock levels and forecasted needs. • Inspect incoming shipments for damage, verify contents against purchase orders, and store appropriately (e.g., temperature-sensitive materials). • Ensure all reagents are properly labeled with receipt date, opening date, and expiration date. QualificationsRequired: • High school diploma or equivalent; science coursework preferred. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. • Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to SOPs. • Basic understanding of laboratory safety and practices. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
