Valid Radiologic Technologist license in compliance within state regulations
PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC Certifications

Summary:
The Cath Lab Technologist is responsible for assisting in diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab. This role involves preparing patients and equipment, monitoring hemodynamic data, assisting physicians during procedures, and ensuring patient safety throughout the process. The technologist operates specialized imaging equipment, maintains sterile technique, and collaborates with the healthcare team to provide high-quality patient care. This position requires technical expertise in cardiovascular procedures, critical thinking skills, and the ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations.
Essential Work Functions:
Prepare and position patients for cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, electrophysiology studies, and other interventional procedures
Assist physicians during procedures by passing catheters, wires, balloons, and stents, and operating fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring equipment
Operate and maintain imaging equipment, contrast injectors, and hemodynamic monitoring systems, ensuring proper functionality
Scrub in and assist with sterile field setup, ensuring adherence to infection control and procedural protocols
Perform sheath removal and hemostasis using manual compression or closure devices as directed
Maintain accurate documentation, including patient records, imaging data, and equipment logs
Assist with inventory management, stocking supplies, and ensuring proper storage of sterile instruments and medications
Adhere to radiation safety protocols, ensuring proper use of lead aprons, shields, and dosimeters
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements
Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice

Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment and care of patients served. Cardiac Cath Lab Technologists are able to scrub/assist the physician during diagnostic and interventional cardiac studies. He or she is also able to record and monitor these cases and understands the hemodynamic measurements and readings from the valve areas.
What you will do in this role:
* Demonstrate the ability to perform contrast media administration according to age/weight specific guidelines.
* Demonstrate the ability to set up sterile trays and maintain sterile field, according to hospital protocol.
* Scrub and assist interventional physician during interventional procedures.

Help ensure the laser pour is setup correctly at the start of the shift.
Load the rod and check alignment with the nozzle before catching iron
Check positioning of the pig mold under the laserpour to make sure we do not have crash when line indexes.
Ensure inoculator is operational before catching iron
Know how to perform basic troubleshooting on the inoculator
Understand what the inoculator alarms mean and how to clear them
Be able to calibrate the inoculator.
Watch the molds being poured through the shift and work with the operators to coach them on proper pouring.
Coach them to keep the sprue full but do not overflow and waste iron.
Coach them to move a dripping nozzle away from the sprue until the pour event is started.
Burn out the nozzle as required to keep the sprue full.
Assist in changing out broken stopper rods. Communicate about tap sizes when the tap size changes.

Hours: Monday - Thursday 8:30PM - 7AM. Possibility of a weekend shift opening of Friday, Saturday, Sun 7PM - 7AM Medical Technologists/MLS/CLS are responsible for performing the examination of materials or specimens taken from the human body to provide information or materials for use in the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of a disease or the assessment of a medical condition. They perform laboratory procedures in a timely and accurate manner according to established hospital policies and departmental procedures. Medical Technologists function under the supervision of the medical laboratory director, manager, department supervisors or charge tech. They must be able to multi-task and even though they are assigned to sub-department of the laboratory they must float to areas as needed. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served; Neonate, Infant, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric.
They will also be responsible for clerical duties including faxing, answering phones, running the tube system and working on the computer registering and ordering reference labs from other healthcare facilities whenever needed.
They are ultimately responsible to assure specimen collection, quality and timely test resulting and pending resolution. This may involve venipuncture, specimen pick-up, labeling and/or Blood Bank armbands when requested.
Must have good communication skills when dealing with patients and/or visitors and must show a caring and giving attitude and know that the care of the patient is the most important job. Must be able to work individually but also as a team with the non- technical staff with- in the lab and outside customers of the lab.
Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Certification from the ASCP, AMT, ABB, ABOR as a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist or MLT required.
Preferred:
Application for or Possession of State of Tennessee License
OR
Diploma from a NAACLS approved program or certified institution with a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Biological Science, or Chemical Science
