A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A GEOTECHNICAL / CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS TESTING TECHNICIAN
Working under the immediate supervision of a registered professional engineer, you work as a team member alongside site managers, general contractors, and engineers to perform the required inspection or sampling services at various environmentally regulated solid waste landfill construction projects. You monitor general contractor activities, onsite testing, and reporting of earthwork and soil construction as well as geosynthetic baseliner, closure cap, piping, and gas extraction systems. In addition, you actively collect concrete, soil, and other site materials for testing in order to ensure construction standards and specifications are being met.

Quality Assurance technician tests and inspects products in the manufacturing environment to ensure the quality of the product. The technician works on a variety of products in all phases of production. The QA will work in the lab examining products, taking samples, and conducting experiments to ensure that customer and company specifications are met. The QA Technician will report any defects and make recommendations for improvements. The Quality Assurance department of the company aims to stop wasteful production of poor quality products and helps to ensure that customers do not receive malfunctioning products. The Quality Assurance technician monitors the operation to ensure product is manufactured and handled properly (Sanitation Operations & GMP's).
Position Duties/ Responsibilities:
Inspect product through sensory evaluation for defects
Inspect finish product for correctness
Check product for specified colors, textures, etc
Test raw material, ingredients, packaged finished products, packing materials
Determine overall product quality by conducting and evaluating various product tests
Use test equipment to determine if product meets customer specifications
Conduct quality checks on production floor documents to ensure completeness and accuracy
Use measuring equipment, electronic equipment, scales to perform testing and analysis
Consult with QA Supervisor regarding any defects; aids in recommendations for improvement and corrections
Observe product, processes and plant environment for any possible hazards
Examine materials and ingredients from supplier to ensure compliance with specifications
Inspect final product made with materials from supplier
Perform direct observation on SOP' and GMP's and record results
Accurately complete required documents and forms required for recordkeeping
Review HACCP records to ensure that HACCP requirements are met and properly documented

Inspection is performed to make sure that all incoming raw chicken breasts and dark meat are received in good condition and meet the raw material specifications for condition, temperature, bones, skin, veins and hard cartilage connective tissue.
Ensure all refrigerated meat and poultry raw materials are handled in a safe manner and that required temperatures of product and room are maintained during the cutting and marinating process.
Fry Line
Ensure that all previously breaded, battered and baked meat and poultry products are cooked and/or cut at the required times and temperatures to achieve the minimum internal temperature/specification requirements.
Ensure the control of the physical aspects of the product such as sizing, uniformity, defects, batter pickup, flavor and odor. One or two pounds are weighed from each sample and product is graded as required for selected customer with results recorded in Processing and Finished Product grade sheet.
Packaging room:
Ensure the documented control of the cooling/freezing and packaging process so that previously Fully Cooked Products are cooled/frozen at the required times and temperatures to inhibit the growth of microorganism and preserve the product prior to packaging.
Ensure the elements pertaining to the monitoring and verification of metal detectors are in place so that all finished products are packaged in a safe manner to protect the consumer from potentially harmful metal objects.
Execute other duties as assigned in all areas.

The Alabama Cooperative Fish & Wildlife Research Unit at Auburn University is seeking Mammal Sampling Technicians (1-2) for a multi-species inventory and conservation project on selected state-owned lands within Alabama. Primary responsibilities will include conducting small mammal live trapping using Sherman traps and deployment/pick up of camera traps and Anabat detectors. Other duties will include data entry, memory card downloading/organization, and maintenance of field equipment and vehicles. Candidates must be prepared and able to work under challenging environmental conditions, which include exposure to elements such as heat, humidity, and the presence of wildlife and insects.

Essential Functions
The employee's duties will include, but not be limited to: small mammal trapping with Sherman traps, small mammal handling/processing, and deployment of Anabats/camera traps. Other duties will include vegetation sampling, data entry, database management, and maintenance of field equipment and vehicles. Work vehicles, gas, and housing to be provided.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a biology-related field and a valid driver's license.
Desired Qualifications
Ideal candidates have previous experience in southeastern small mammal identification, specifically mice, rats, shrews, moles, voles, chipmunks, and squirrels. Also, candidates would have previous experience with small mammal handling and collecting of physical measurements. Furthermore, ideal candidates would have previous experience in deployment and management of Reconyx camera traps and Anabat detectors. Candidates should be comfortable carrying light-medium weighed field equipment for extended periods. Candidates with a positive attitude, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are desired.
