5.0 Responsibilities
• Ensures all lab staff has adequate resources to perform all aspects of work required.
• Ensures all lab staff are adequately trained to safely perform all required job functions and that competency records are maintained.
• Ensures compliance with all corporate policy procedures in the laboratory.
• Assists Lab Manager regarding sales, profits, costs and expenses to meet/ exceed budgeted financial expectations for the laboratory.
• Provides employee motivation and champions the Quality system, including SQC, Calibrations, Quality Assurance, Training, and Round Robins.
• Communicates with lab staff and management to promote empowerment and accountability.
• Obtains and maintains an in-depth knowledge of local market requirements.
• Understands customer requirements and organizes lab procedures, schedules and staffing to provide for meeting/exceeding same.
• Fosters customer confidence in CCC laboratory work.
• Supports the ISO certificate(s) and manages corrective/preventive actions.
• Reviews local laboratory operations for all aspects of the continuous improvement process.
• Recommends measures to improve testing procedures, use of equipment, and needs for new equipment. Conducts research to develop custom procedures as needed, working in conjunction with senior lab management.
• Maintains open communication with the Lab Manager.
• Represents CCC by appearance and conduct. Behaves ethically at all times; Ensures compliance in all areas
• Ensures laboratory practices meet or exceed company policy and industry standards.
• Establishes or adjusts work schedules to meet testing requirements and control costs.
• Assists with maintaining time, training, calibration, QC and testing records.
• Other duties as may be assigned by Lab Management, and/or senior management.
6.0 Fitness for Duty - Physical Demands
Workday may consist of 8-12 hours however this can vary day to day and shift to shift. Some of the retain work is performed outdoors, wearing full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and could include possible exposure to high and low temperatures for a prolonged duration of time. Laboratory work is normally performed indoors under climate-controlled conditions.

We do 4000 diagnostic and 900 interventional cardiology and peripheral procedures annually. Summary:
The Catheterization Laboratory Technologist I has a critical role in supporting cardiac catheterization procedures by preparing the lab and operating essential equipment, including fluoro imaging and digital image acquisition. This role ensures the accurate documentation of patient information and hemodynamic measurements, while also maintaining stringent aseptic technique and patient safety standards. The Technologist I actively collaborates with the medical team to optimize patient care and departmental efficiency, serving as the radiation safety representative during X-ray usage and continually developing proficiency in specialized cath lab technologies.
Responsibilities:

Primary Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm in Microbiology. Rotating Weekends.
Once per month, coverage required: 12:00pm - 8:30pm shift in Reference and Immunology. Weekend clinic coverage at the Saratoga clinic location.
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
The registered Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Technologist, under supervision Medical Director, Administrative Director, Manager, Lead and Senior is capable of performing all of the tests in a single area or majority of procedures in all areas, as defined by HCFA, of the clinical laboratory with appropriate sectional training. Performs highly complex procedures. Performs manual and automated laboratory assays requiring independent judgment. Reports results to nurses and physicians relating the results to normal range for age; and recognizing and reporting critical values.
Evaluates and records quality control and patient results. Performs shift preventative maintenance procedures and independently initiates corrective action of procedures not in control. Assures quality of work, work flow, turn-around-time and timely reporting of values; Assures accurate testing to support quality patient care; Maintains and trouble shoots instruments within the section; Accept suggestions and corrections, adjust to changing situations.
Safety precautions and protective attire must be used at all times according to hospital and laboratory policies and procedures; Performs other duties as assigned and is able to work hours beyond those of normal full time positions to fulfill duties and needs of Driscoll Children's Hospital; Must promote team leadership and be a team player; Must be familiar with performance and interpretation of laboratory procedures associated with pediatric hospital with most patients below the age of 21 years, 364 days; Responsible for creation and periodic review of Section procedure manual written in accordance with the NCCLS standards; and ensure that Corporate and Laboratory Integrity is in compliance with OIG guidelines. The Research Technician I will assist in a research project being conducted in South Texas focused on the effects of guinea grass on the space use and habitat selection of northern bobwhite. Fieldwork will occur on private rangeland around Kingsville. The position will last for 4.5 months (Spring 2026). The successful candidate will work as part of a crew consisting of a lead graduate research assistant as well as several undergraduate technicians from Texas A&M-Kingsville. The primary purpose of this position is to assist with northern bobwhite trapping and tracking. Fieldwork will include (but is not limited to): clearing and prepping bobwhite trap sites, distributing bait before bobwhite trapping, trapping and tagging live northern bobwhites, VHF tracking of tagged bobwhites using both handheld yagis and vehicle mounted omni antennas, and performing vegetation measurements.
The candidate must be comfortable with the safe handling of wildlife. Fieldwork will primarily be performed by a crew at the beginning of the field season, but the applicant will eventually be tasked with completing fieldwork tasks (especially VHF tracking) independently. As such, the applicant must be comfortable working in both a group setting as well as alone. Since work will be performed on private rangeland, the applicant will need to follow all rules and regulations imposed by the landowners and respect all ranch property. Field conditions include inclement weather, both hot and cold temperatures, high humidity, biting insects, potentially hazardous wildlife, and occasional wet conditions. This position is primarily field work based (~100%). Housing is not provided.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee all quality issues with tube.

OR
* 60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution that, at a minimum, includes either 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses, OR 24 semester hours of science courses that include six semester hours of chemistry, six semester hours of biology, and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination;
AND
* Laboratory training including either completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by the ABHES, NAACLS, or other organization approved by HHS (note that this training may be included in the 60 semester hours listed above), or at least three months documented laboratory training in each specialty in which the individual performs high complexity testing.

The Research Technician I will assist in a research project being conducted in South Texas focused on the effects of guinea grass on the space use and habitat selection of northern bobwhite. Fieldwork will occur on private rangeland around Kingsville. The position will last for 4.5 months (Spring 2026). The successful candidate will work as part of a crew consisting of a lead graduate research assistant as well as several undergraduate technicians from Texas A&M-Kingsville. The primary purpose of this position is to assist with northern bobwhite trapping and tracking. Fieldwork will include (but is not limited to): clearing and prepping bobwhite trap sites, distributing bait before bobwhite trapping, trapping and tagging live northern bobwhites, VHF tracking of tagged bobwhites using both handheld yagis and vehicle mounted omni antennas, and performing vegetation measurements.
The candidate must be comfortable with the safe handling of wildlife. Fieldwork will primarily be performed by a crew at the beginning of the field season, but the applicant will eventually be tasked with completing fieldwork tasks (especially VHF tracking) independently. As such, the applicant must be comfortable working in both a group setting as well as alone. Since work will be performed on private rangeland, the applicant will need to follow all rules and regulations imposed by the landowners and respect all ranch property. Field conditions include inclement weather, both hot and cold temperatures, high humidity, biting insects, potentially hazardous wildlife, and occasional wet conditions. This position is primarily field work based (~100%). Housing is not provided.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead efforts to trap bobwhite quail using ground funnel box traps. Involves prepping trap sites, deploying and operating traps, and the safe handling of captured animals.
VHF tracking of bobwhite quail using both vehicle mounted whip antennae as well as handheld yagis and receivers.
Conduct vegetation surveys at locations used by bobwhites as well as at random locations on the landscape. Includes Robel poles, Daubenmire frames, vertical visual obstruction metrics, and others as assigned.
Operating 4WD vehicles, hand tools, and navigational equipment including both handheld GPS units and phone applications such as Avenza Maps
Performs other duties as assigned.
