Job Description
This position plays a vital role in supporting both students and instructors within the Facility and Service Technology (FAST) program by providing hands-on assistance in laboratory settings. Responsibilities:

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Help write and update lab IRB protocols
- Keep track of equipment needs, help order essential supplies
- Maintain lab calendars, schedule lab meetings/events
- Design and/or maintain lab websites across URMC, BCS, external platforms
- Set up and manage psychophysics machines, remote links, and rooms
- Help set up and run human fMRI scanning experiments
- Help recruit, schedule, and run participants for behavioral experiments on human visual/semantic cognition and audition/communication
- Manage Amazon Mechanical Turk/Prolific online experiment overhead (up to 10,000 participants per study)
- Manage lab computer backups, ensure scanner data transfer, perform data curation
- Help train lab members in use of lab equipment, running experiments, coding and annotating data
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree (BS/BA) in Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, or related field.
- Min 1-year research experience OR undergraduate honors thesis
- Proficiency in Matlab or Python; familiarity with the other
Preferred:

As a Laboratory Assistant at ICON, you will provide essential support to laboratory operations by assisting with the preparation, organization, and maintenance of laboratory samples and equipment. Your role will be crucial in ensuring a smooth workflow and contributing to the accuracy and integrity of laboratory results.
What You Will Be Doing:
Assisting with the preparation of laboratory samples and reagents according to established protocols and procedures.
Maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies, ensuring cleanliness and proper functioning at all times.
Documenting and tracking sample information, including labeling, storage, and retrieval of samples as needed.
Supporting laboratory staff in conducting tests and analyses by providing timely assistance and preparation of materials.

Your Profile:
High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in a relevant field preferred.
0-2 years of experience in a laboratory or related environment, with a strong willingness to learn and develop new skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Good communication and teamwork abilities, with a proactive approach to supporting laboratory operations.
Basic familiarity with laboratory equipment and techniques is a plus.
