Essential Functions
* Will work in lab running machines and performing blood draws.
1. Demonstrates ability to consistently meet the department work schedule.

c. Initials, dates, and times all collections.
3. Within scope of training, prepares specimens and performs laboratory analyses and quality control testing in accordance with established Hospital policies and procedures. Recognizes test inconsistencies and takes appropriate corrective action taken. Seeks assistance from appropriate laboratory personnel as needed to identify and/or resolve issues.
4. Performs preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment, documenting all instrument checks, problems, and corrective actions taken. Seeks assistance form appropriate laboratory personnel as needed to identify and/or resolve issues.
5. Performs clerical tasks as applicable, including, but no limited to, completing requisitions for patient billing and test requisitions; preparing quality control graphs and reports; and inputting data on Pathology Lab computer.
6. Assumes accountability for enhancing own professional knowledge through journal articles, professional organizations, seminars, etc.
7. Maintains awareness of own safety in carrying out duties and responsibilities. Adheres to universal precautions and infection control policies and procedures. Keeps own work area clean, neat, and professional in appearance.
8. Maintains patient confidentiality and uses discretion in patient interactions.

Reporting to the Manager, Chemical Synthesis and Bulk Manufacturing, the Chemical Technician II is responsible for manufacturing a wide variety of chemical solutions and powders, in addition to using wet bench chemistry to test and adjust the manufactured chemistry using an assortment of techniques and instruments.
This position is part of the Bulk Chemical Manufacturing Department located in Ames, Iowa and will work onsite 4 days per week!
**This position is second shift** **Schedule: Monday through Thursday** **2:00pm-12:00am.**
**In this role, a typical day will look like:**
+ Manufacture bulk solutions, bulk powders, microbiological media and dyes. Use a wide variety of different raw materials including concentrated acids, bases, heavy metals, oxidizers, and flammable materials.
+ Perform production controls and adjust bulk reagents to meet product specifications and ensure quality.
+ Comply with company safety policies including safe operation of equipment, PPE usage, safe transportation, and handling of bulk chemicals and keep accurate records for production and inventory.
**The essential requirements of the job include:**
+ 1 year of completed college chemistry with lab required.
+ 1 year scientific production, process, or lab technician experience required or Bachelor of Science degree in lieu of experience required

The compensation range for this role is $27.00 - $27.00 USD per hour. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.
