Ensure infection control and sharp safety procedures are followed regarding waste and reusable products. Perform patient education regarding post-procedure monitoring and care of catheter insertion site. Provide instructions and information regarding activity including normal, variant and issues requiring intervention. Under the direction of a Cardiologist, independently performs radiographic procedures at a technical level in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. Assists the Cardiologist in performing diagnostic as well as interventional procedures for the heart. The two Cath Lab Tech positions are: (1) Monitor, and (2) Scrub. Monitor The monitor is in the control room during the procedure monitoring the vital signs before during and after the procedure, documenting everything that is done during the procedure (i.e. when equipment goes into the patient and when it comes out of the patient. Also documenting what is implanted into the patient and making sure appropriate paper work is done that will go with the patient. Case monitors will also assist in transport when available and well as prepping the patient and cleaning the room post case. Scrub The scrub is in the room scrubbed into the case with the doctor in a sterile fashion. The scrub runs the x-ray equipment during the procedure with includes panning the table during image acquisition, moving the C-arm to various angles, switching in and out of different X-ray modes required for various studies. The scrub is also in charge or running the Acist power injector and has to maintain the knowledge of how to use various other equipment during procedure safely and effectively. Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related science discipline required. 7 years of specific laboratory technician experience in a petrochemical, refinery or medical field setting may possibly be substituted for education. Must have and maintain a valid state driver's license and wear corrective lenses when required. Must have experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office software and email programs. Must be able to verbally communicate across plant communication systems. Must have effective oral, written and computer communication skills. Must be able to climb stairs. Performs routine laboratory tests under close supervision to determine chemical or physical characteristics designated by clients. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Perform basic analytical tests from well-defined standards and procedures as required by the Location Manager or senior management staff. Complete laboratory raw data sheets and make accurate entries into Saybolt's laboratory computer programs. Assist senior laboratory personnel in the preparation of samples for analysis and the setting up, adjusting and operation of laboratory equipment for which the technician has been adequately trained and has been verified to operate correctly in accordance with applicable standards and sound laboratory practice. Verify and communicate results obtained from the performance of laboratory procedures and make the appropriate entries into instrument logs, control charts, laboratory worksheets, and any other media, whether print or electronic, assuring the validity and traceability of the information. Perform and maintain laboratory procedures, equipment calibration, control charting, documentation and records in full compliance with the quality assurance program outlined in Saybolt's quality manuals and compliance program. Clean and sterilize laboratory equipment. Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas for use in laboratory analysis. Laboratory technicians must be documented to be able to perform basic tests in accordance with applicable standards and sound laboratory practice. Exercise procedural, safety and quality requirements specified in Laboratory Manual #5, Saybolt LP HSE Manual, and the Core Laboratories Safety and Environmental Manual, and all applicable company policies. QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Two to three years of related experience and/or training. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
