PURPOSE
We are looking for someone with high emotional intelligence and is comfortable working closely across the team to join us in facilitating the production of viral vectors. The Laboratory Associate I/II will be needed to perform analytical assays for viral vector process development, assist with method development, document experiments, help with lab maintenance and execute assay qualifications. This position calls for an independent thinker who can work seamlessly in a matrixed environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Execute assays involved in viral vector characterization using modalities like flow cytometry, dd PCR, ELISA and cell culture.
Perform experiments related to lentivirus, retrovirus and AAV platforms.
Assist with in-lab and out of lab (e.g., report writing) activities to develop methods and qualify assays per ICH guidelines.
Work closely with lead scientists to address items such as client comments and concerns.
Maintain appropriate documentation of processing activities, including quality. control of written and electronic data.
Assist with sample management for process development and clients.
Handle and track lab materials and inventory.
Help engage with new technology evaluations and to incorporate new platforms.
Perform routine lab maintenance and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Train new staff members and fellow employees in designated processes as directed by lead scientists.
Work across functions like manufacturing, QA and supply chain as needed.
Contribute to the maintenance of laboratory equipment and laboratory support operations.
Comply with all established policies and SOPs.
Properly maintain laboratory notebooks, raw and analyzed data and client records in timely manner.
Adaptability required as work schedule may change based on business needs.
Criminal background check required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Associate, BS or MS degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or similar field.
1 - 5 years of relevant industry/lab experience in a biopharma and/or CDMO industry setting.
Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques required, such as PCR, ELISA and cell culture.
Flow cytometry greatly desired. BSL 2/2.5 environment, cell culture, and molecular biology.
Previous experience working with gene therapy vectors and protein or vector production and/or purification.
Excellent computer, verbal, and written communication skills.
High level of organization; detail oriented.
Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
Precision pipetting.
