Responsibilities

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
* Under supervision of or assisting the Platform Manager, provide next generation sequencing and spatial transcriptomics services, including single cell and bulk RNA-sequencing library preparation, spatial omics, and other workflows as needed.
* Carefully maintain records/logs of Genomics Platform projects. This includes sample tracking, archiving, and storage.
* After proper training, perform sectioning, staining, and histology quality control for spatial omics projects.
* Perform in vitro and in vivo experiments run by the Genomics Platform.
* Maintain all equipment within the Platform to keep them in good working order. Work with vendors to schedule preventative maintenance visits and coordinate all repairs needed for the equipment.
* Track inventory, order supplies, receive and log orders to maintain adequate stock of Genomics Platform consumables.
* Serve as the emergency response personnel required to respond to equipment failure during off hours. (e.g. freezer failure).
* Performs all other duties as directed by the Platform Director, Manager, and Project Manager.

The Opportunity:
In this role, you will report to the Area Operations Manager and will work closely with the Avantor's Advanced Laboratory Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.
Location: Cambridge, MA
Shift: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Hourly Rate: $23/hr. - $25/hr.

Avantor's Advanced Laboratory Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support. In this role you will:
Lab Maintenance & Biowaste Disposal
Clean lab benches and fume hoods following SOPs and using proper cleaning equipment.
Dispose of biowaste safely and efficiently.
Autoclave materials as needed.
Inventory & Shipping
Perform daily inventory tasks, including receiving packages and placing items in designated locations.
Manage gas cylinders: receive, store, replace, and report usage to the customer.
Facilitate orders for consumable lab inventory replenishment.
Handle inbound shipments (UPS, FedEx, etc.) and resolve shipping errors.
Monitor slow-moving and dead stock; conduct cycle counts and annual inventories.
Customer & Administrative Support
Communicate with scientists regarding received materials and respond to requests.
Maintain Excel spreadsheets for inventory tracking and reporting.
Replenish snacks and clean breakroom areas.
Greet and sign in/out guests.
Provide professional customer service, follow-up, and follow-through on tasks.
Assist with shipping coordination, including hazardous materials documentation and packaging.
Safety & Compliance
Maintain safety stations and equipment inspections.
Ensure compliance with hazardous material handling procedures.
