* Daily verification/calibration of lab equipment prior to testing finished product to ensure product quality.
* Maintain the cleanliness of the lab making sure that the areas are clean after testing.
* Ensure that lot codes and finished products package is correct and legible.
* Product that has been analyzed and does not meet specification, must be re-sampled and re-analyzed immediately. If product is not in compliance, HOLD stickers must be applied immediately and system hold activated.
* Participate in and successfully complete all required laboratory training classes.
* Complete the picking, testing and approval of raw materials, issuing deviation when the material is out of specification and reporting to the supervisor/manager.
* Keeping record of the materials that need to be tested for micro and send the samples on time.

Job Summary:
Responsible for compounding non-sterile pharmaceutical preparations under the supervision of the compounding pharmacist.

Compounding technicians shall have knowledge of and follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
Specifically noting the use of hormones and other potentially hazardous chemicals are used in non-sterile compounding.
Non-sterile compounding may include but is not limited to the compounding of capsules, liquids, topical medications, nasal preparations, suppositories, troches, or tablet triturates.
Position requires close attention to detail.
Standards for accuracy and potency shall be consistently met.
Compounding technician shall compound medication, fill and label prescriptions and pre-package bulk compounded medications in anticipation of prescription orders.
Compounding technicians shall also monitor inventory levels for re-order of low inventory or expiring or expired chemicals or compounds, receive new inventory, maintain MSDS and Certificates of Analysis and perform daily, weekly and monthly cleaning using appropriate disinfectants and techniques.
When working with hazardous or non-hazardous chemicals, the Compounding technician shall be familiar with the location of MSDS and review, as needed.
Environmental monitoring and validation testing shall be performed according to policies and procedures.
Technicians shall work under the supervision of a pharmacist.
Minimum qualifications:
Must be registered with the State Board of Pharmacy.
Strong hand-eye coordination
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
Ability to work quickly and accurately under time and volume constraints
Physical requirements:
Proficient in using a computer and related equipment, including printers and fax machines.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
Effective communication skills via telephone and email.
Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds as needed.
20/20 vision (with or without corrective aids) required for visual inspection of drug products, in accordance with legal requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Print medication labels accurately and ensure they correspond with the prescriptions.
Carefully compound non-sterile prescription medications including, but not limited to oral liquids and topical medications following established protocols and safety guidelines.
· Submit compounded medications to pharmacists for verification and quality assurance.
· Maintain organized workstations and restock supplies for the upcoming shifts.
Perform daily and monthly cleaning using appropriate disinfectants and procedures
· Monitor the environment according to policies and procedures
· Troubleshoot minor issues with the equipment and escalate problems as necessary.
· Collaborate with the Filling Technicians and Pharmacists to ensure seamless coordination of medication packaging.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma or GED; State license to handle medication, Pharmacy Technician Certification; or 1-3 years of pharmacy experience; or an equivalent mix of education and experience. CPHT certification preferred.
Computer Skills
: Intermediate proficiency with Pharmacy and medication distribution software. Experience with long term care pharmacy software preferred.
Language Skills
: Ability to read and interpret documents such as medication documentation, business correspondence and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and business correspondence; ability to speak effectively, both in person and by telephone, to customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs; ability to understand and interpret statistical reports, data charts and graphs.
