Key Responsibilities
Specimen Receipt & Processing
Receive, prioritize, and process specimens in a timely manner to meet or exceed turnaround standards
Verify specimen identification and labeling
Determine specimen acceptability for analysis

Assist coworkers during high-volume periods
Review specimen logs for unreceived specimens
Blood Bank Responsibilities (BB Only)
Determine if specimen collection is required
Complete blood component transfusion utilization forms
Perform and document blood component processing
Provide platelet and plasma components as requested
Document special component requirements in TSIS
Review and confirm recipient and donor information at blood component issue
Maintain blood component inventory and use efficiently
Perform patient and component testing per established procedures
Testing & Quality

Demonstrate strong knowledge of technical and instrumental procedures
Identify abnormal results and repeat tests as needed

Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Recommend innovative solutions to complex problems related to the process, database and/or documents
* Assist in the facilitation of a team collaboration and coordination
* Compose complex correspondence and respond to complex customer inquiries
* Analyze shipping notices, invoices, orders, reports and other records to determine priority
* Troubleshoot for potential problems with the database, process and/or documents
* Verify and maintain accurate and current databases, documents and/or records
* Perform routine office management activies
* Respond to and manage inquires from both internal and external customers regarding the process, document or database.
* Assist higher level staff in examining departmental records and reports
* Recognize and identify customer problems and trends; alert management when detected
* Determine priority of assignments
* Carry out work assignments to meet process schedule
* Maintain positive customer relations
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school degree or the equivalent and at least 3 years office/clerical experience
KNOWLEDGE OF:
MS Office Software - proficient in Outlook and Excel
SAP (preferred - but not required)

Dr. Yoon's research focuses on the discovery of new genetic/neurological diseases and their pathogenic mechanisms. The lab implements an experimental pipeline that leverages the combined power of clinical data, genomics analysis, and studies using patient-derived stem cell models.
Dr. Yoon's research has uncovered 5 novel Mendelian mitochondrial diseases including the Harel-Yoon syndrome and the Yoon-Bellen neurodevelopmental syndrome that bear his name (PMID: 27640307; PMID: 32004445; PMID: 33845882; PMID: 28017472; PMID: 34800363). He and his lab have already established numerous disease models in human iPS cells.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelors degree in one of the biological sciences or relevant field and two (2) years of relevant laboratory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Must be detail-oriented, organized, able to meet deadlines, and work independently as well as a team player.
* Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and protocols/procedures.
* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
* Ability to compute basic mathematical operations, i.e., rate, ratio, percent, molarity, and unit conversion.
* Ability to organize and perform precise and accurate work when dealing with samples and chemicals.
* Strong computer proficiency.
* Professionalism while interacting with a diverse group of people, personalities, and cultures.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with strong expertise in neuronal cell and iPSC culture are greatly encouraged to apply. Expertise in any of the following areas is highly valued:
* Human iPSC or ESC biology
* Neuronal cell culture
* Cell biology (immunocytochemistry, confocal microscopy, cell cycle)
* Molecular biology (RNA work, qRT-PCR, Western blot)
