As a Research Technician, you will receive comprehensive training in various technical support services, such as phlebotomy, vital signs monitoring, ECGs, and more. Your role will be instrumental in ensuring the successful completion of Phase I clinical trials by performing both technical and non-technical procedures. By collecting study-specific data through these procedures, you will contribute significantly to the overall study conduction process.
A day in the Life:
* Performs technical procedures including automated vital signs, electrocardiogram, urine collections, blood collections, etc.
* Interacts regularly with study subjects in all in-house and outpatient studies in order to perform study related procedures.
* Performs non-technical procedures including subject walks and safety monitoring.

Experimental and Technical Support
* Maintain and manage model organisms used in research, such as Drosophila melanogaster, including tasks like stock maintenance, virgin collection, and genetic cross setups.
* Set up and run molecular biology experiments (e.g., PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA extraction, and sequencing).
* Prepare chemical reagents and biological media for research use in accordance with research protocols.
Research Support and Data Management
* Assist with data collection, and data logging.

* Maintain accurate records of lab activities in electronic lab notebooks or designated databases.
Instructional and Safety Support
* Support faculty in CURE based coursework by preparing related lab materials.
* Train new students in lab safety procedures, basic laboratory techniques, and proper equipment use.
* Monitor lab for adherence to safety protocols and contribute to a culture of safety.
Laboratory Maintenance and Logistics
* Maintain laboratory equipment and instruments in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and internal maintenance schedules, including daily monitor of refrigerator and freezer temperatures, pH meter calibration, fume hood operation checks, etc.
* Report equipment malfunctions or other lab issues by creating work orders and coordinate repairs with the appropriate facilities or service units.
* Receive, unpack, and inventory shipments of laboratory supplies and equipment.
* Maintain glassware and consumables by washing, sterilizing, and storing properly.
* Dispose of biological and chemical waste following institutional and regulatory protocols.
* Organize and label chemicals, reagents, and supplies; update chemical inventory management systems accordingly.
* Keep the lab safe, clean, orderly, and functional for research and instructional purposes.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher.
* Currently enrolled at Nevada State in a program with coursework in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field.
* 1 year of working as a lab technician or lab assistant required
* At least one year of research experience in a wet-lab setting, including summer research programs such as INBRE- iSURF, UROP, EPSCoR, or NASA-funded programs.
* Successful completion of BIOL 300L and a Molecular Biology course is required.
* Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).
Preferred Qualifications:
* GPA of 3.0 or higher
* Completion of additional upper-division biology or chemistry laboratory courses
* Proficiency in molecular biology techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA extraction, and bacterial transformation.

Education/Experience:

Licensing/Certification Requirements:
A valid State of Nevada license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or Specialty Technologist is required or temporary employment for a period NOT exceeding six (6) months may be granted with documentation that the application for license process has been initiated. The Mobile Lab Coordinator is responsible for the P28 Mobile Lab activities to include scheduling, training, outreach and promotion of P28's innovative products. The position is also responsible for ensuring transportation of the Mobile Lab from one location to another - which may include driving - and ensuring proper setups for each lab held. This position requires up to 80% travel.
**How You'll Create Impact**
**Essential Responsibilities and Duties**
+ Manage all operations of mobile bio-skills lab.
+ Ensure Mobile Lab transportation from one location to another.
+ Proper set up and breakdown of each lab.
+ Ensure all safety rules and regulations are met to AATB and OSHA standards.
+ Manage P28 products, PPE, general instrumentation and anatomical inventory.
+ Manage assigned budgets and calendar requests for labs.
+ Ensure the proper handling of all anatomical tissue.
+ Operate mini c-arm imaging machine.
+ Manage and service company vehicle.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**Your Background**
+ Minimum of 2 years' experience in the medical device industry, preferred.
+ Minimum of 1 year experience working in a regulated bio-laboratory required, including:
+ Proper handling/prepping of human tissue
+ Safe handling of biologically contaminated product
+ Lab or clean room experience that mees AATB and OSHA standard.
+ Experience working a Cell Operating System or manufacturing environment.
+ Proficient in MS Excel and Outlook
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills to present ideas/direction to business partners, management and physicians and sales representatives.
+ Ability to maintain professionalism while maintaining compliance to P28 standards and all legal requirements.
+ Must be self-motivated and able to work and solve issues independently.
**Work Environment**
This job operates primarily in the mobile lab and on the road.
**Physical Demands**
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with individuals internal and external to the organization. The employee may be required to lift up-to 30 lbs. by themselves. This role will also require extensive data entry and electronic communications.
Additionally, this role requires extended time in the mobile lab and therefore requires:
+ Ability to sit/stand/walk for extended periods of time (can be 8 hours plus), as well as bend/stoop/squat and balance frequently.
