The cardiac cath lab physician assistant is a licensed provider who will be responsible for all aspects of pre, intra, and post procedure care of interventional cardiology patients. This includes, but is not limited to, pre-procedure assessment, informed consent, sedation assessment, assisting with procedures, post-procedure management, and discharge education. The PA will first assist in all types of procedures performed in the cardiac cath lab and will be comfortable with equipment required for the procedures. The PA will act as the responding clinician for patients on the PA Cath Service with responsibilities including admission H&P, daily rounds, progress notes, and discharge summaries. The PA must have knowledge of the most common diagnoses admitted to the Interventional Cardiology service, demonstrate competency to effectively diagnose, formulate an appropriate treatment plan, and implement the plan in conjunction with the attending physician. The physician assistant will be responsible for completing and maintaining procedural sedation training annually and completing fluoroscopic training and certification within 18 months of hire. While the PA can expect a relatively predictable work schedule, schedule variations may occur to cover clinical needs as they become apparent to the department. The position will include weekend and holiday coverage planned in advance. PA may be asked to take call, pick up additional shifts, work variable hours, and/or provide backup coverage as needed. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation.     The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute seeks a research technician to focus on next-generation, translational pathology studies who will work within the Wolpin-Nowak laboratory: ******************************************** as part of the Hale Family Center for Pancreatic Cancer Research: *************************************** and the Lustgarten Foundation Pancreatic Cancer Research Laboratory at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Our research group investigates the biology and risk factors associated with pancreatic and other gastrointestinal cancers. We aim to improve outcomes for patients with these diseases both by identifying cancer earlier, when the chance for a cure is greater, and by improving therapy. We focus on learning from cancer patients by studying human biospecimens so that our discoveries can be rapidly and confidently translated into improved clinical care. Our laboratory members include epidemiologists, biostatisticians, pathologists, data scientists, molecular biologists, and clinical researchers, all of whom contribute their unique expertise to our lab's work. We employ a broad variety of analysis approaches and techniques in our laboratory, including population-scale epidemiology studies, digital pathology, genomic sequencing, and spatial transcriptomic and protein profiling. Our tissue profiling work encompasses both clinical trial correlative studies and landscape-directed discovery studies. We work closely with the Gastrointestinal Cancer Center Biobank to acquire blood, tissue, and other sample types from patients at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Finally, we routinely collaborate both with investigators at Dana-Farber and across the nation to study pancreatic cancer using model systems and to conduct and lead clinical trials. Basic Purpose: Perform various routine laboratory functions in a precise and accurate fashion to assist the laboratory professional staff and to facilitate production. Job Requirements : Sorting, and receiving specimens in the department. Performs routine instrument maintenance on some equipment. Performs laboratory tasks of centrifuging specimens, printing extra labels, recording data (temperature charts) specimen storage and retrieval. Preparing reagents and or media in the department. Preparing specimens at workstations for testing. (Including building worklists, aliquoting specimens into sample cups, checking specimens for clots and fibrin, inoculation, slide preparation) Performs QA/QC duties as assigned. Resolves pending lists. Finds missing samples. Decontaminates work areas. Performs weekly radioactive wipe tests. Maintains files for department records. Changes gas cylinders. Follows all PPE requirements and all safety regulations. Uses the laboratory computer system as well as operates PCs. Disposes of biohazardous material. Completes training and competency checklists as appropriate.
