    The primary focus of this position is on Research and Development, primarily working with PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), also known as 'Forever Chemicals.' The role involves developing operating procedures and performing tests for various water and wastewater treatment operations. Responsibilities - The Job could include but not limited to Develop operating procedures and perform tests for various water and wastewater treatment operations. Conduct jar tests to determine and optimize chemical dosing for various treatment approaches. Perform bench and pilot scale evaluations, including columns and batch testing for ion exchange resins, carbon adsorption, activated alumina, and filtration systems. Collect data by measuring and recording operating conditions such as pumping rates, pH, Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP), temperature, and pressure. Operate and perform light maintenance on small-scale equipment such as pumps, heaters, and mixers. Prepare samples and reagents for in-house lab analyses. Perform various laboratory tests, including Color, Temperature, ORP, M&P Alkalinity, Calcium & Magnesium Hardness, Total Hardness, TSS, TDS, COD, TOC, Turbidity, and Phosphorus/Phosphate. Pull samples for third-party laboratory analysis. Maintain reagents, lab inventory, calibration records for lab equipment, and SDS documentation for lab chemicals and reagents. Manage and communicate data, ensuring cleanliness of lab equipment, plasticware, and glassware used in lab analyses and operating areas. Essential Skills Proficiency in laboratory and chemistry, including wet chemistry. Experience in R&D and working with PFAS is a plus. Ability to work precisely in solution making, measuring devices, data handling, and instrument operation. Proficiency with standard laboratory instruments such as pH, TSS, use of probes for measuring process variables, HACH spectrophotometer, analytical balances, and volumetric glassware.
