This is an entry-level position focused on learning standard laboratory techniques, supporting sample receipt and preparation, and maintaining lab cleanliness and organization. Position runs from May through October and is scheduled for 40 hours per week. The position is based on Paul Smiths College campus.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Receive and log incoming water samples following established chain-of-custody procedures.
* Prepare samples and reagents under supervision (e.g., filtration, weighing, pipetting).
* Assist with basic laboratory analyses, as trained.
* Maintain laboratory cleanliness, including dishwashing, waste disposal, and restocking supplies.
* Record data accurately and completely in laboratory notebooks and digital logs.
* Follow all safety protocols and report any issues to supervisory staff.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Laboratory Manager.
Qualifications:
* College coursework in environmental science, chemistry, biology, geology, or other natural sciences.
* Interest in environmental science and desire to gain experience in the laboratory.

Responsibilities
Records and enters results into computer accurately and according to protocol.
Performs required preventive maintenance and repairs as capable.
Performs receptionist/phlebotomist tasks as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Obtains specimens in a manner appropriate to the patient's age, physical ability and intellectual development for the following patient populations: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric.
Performs all determinations done by the lab.
Assures that controls for each run are within acceptable limits.
Correlates lab results with clinical findings by chart review and consultation with nursing and medical staff.
Qualifications
Associate Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent.
Bachelor Degree in Medical Technology desired.
One to two years of hospital laboratory experience desired.
MLT (ASCP) or equivalent.

To ensure the Quality and Compliance of raw materials and products by overseeing daily laboratory activities including testing, scheduling, and laboratory documentation relative to the support of Perrigo operations and manufacturing needs.
Please note: This is a 2nd shift position working from Sunday - Thursday, 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM
2027 Plant Closure Disclaimer
In March of 2025, Perrigo announced that the current operations at our facility in Milton, VT will be migrated to our plant in Eau Claire, WI at the estimated sunset date of July 2027. However, production operations will continue for approximately the next two years, so we want to make the remaining work experience with us as compelling as possible during that time!
Perrigo is committed to offering a highly competitive severance package for employees who see this project through to completion. At the time of the plant closure, if your tenure length is at least 12 months, you would be entitled to 52 weeks (one year's worth) of base pay, bonus, and company-paid COBRA coverage for up to 1-year following your exit. For employees with less than 12 months' tenure at the time of plant closure, they will receive 36 weeks (9 months) of base pay, bonus, and COBRA coverage. These severance offerings would be consistent with the terms of the Perrigo Company plc Severance Policy for U.S. Employees. From a new employee's start date with Perrigo through their role completion, employment with Perrigo will remain as full-time, regular, benefits-eligible, and at-will employment classification.
Scope of the Role
* Provides support and oversight of all laboratory activities.
* Initiates, completes, and monitors laboratory investigations to their closure.
* Conduct training for technicians and take part in needed training to perform job function.
* Lead and participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
* Participate in internal/external audits and monitoring of lab quality control systems
* Perform analytical benchwork as required.
* Professional conduct demonstrating Perrigo's Core Values of respect, integrity, and responsibility.
Experience Required
* Ability to perform and troubleshoot analytical methods.
* Ability to maintain and troubleshoot analytical instruments.
* Previous experience with method validation, including drafting and execution of laboratory validation protocols, and the preparation of validation summary reports highly desired.
* Previous experience with product deviation investigations, including drafting product deviation reports highly desired.
* Previous supervisory experience highly desired.
* A Bachelor's degree in a relevant Scientific field.
* Minimum of 2 years in the field.
