The Community Services Director is seeking a responsible individual to perform a variety of responsible technical and analytical duties for the Water Treatment Facility. This position is responsible for conducting all water quality testing, analysis, and reporting to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Work is conducted in a laboratory setting with a focus on accuracy, precision, and adherence to established protocols.
This is a full-time, 40 hour per week, non-exempt position. $26.26 to $38.03 per hour. Excellent benefit offerings! Position is open until filled.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position. The listed examples may not include all duties found in this class):
* Conducts frequent physical, chemical, and microbiological analyses on water samples from treatment plants, wells, recharge sources, and the distribution system.
a. Performs routine and special sampling (PFAS, MTBE, 1,4-D, UCMR5).
b. Assists other departments with bacteria or special sampling as needed.
* Maintains an accurate filing system of digital and hardcopy records of test results, sampling data, water quality complaints, and laboratory activities.
* Prepares and submits compliance reports to the Chief Operator/Supervisor and/or regulatory agencies (e.g., NHDES, EPA) in a timely manner.
a. Monitors NHDES One-Stop and master sampling schedule for requirement changes.
b. Tracks sample bottle inventory and coordinates reorders with labs.
* Performs calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment; schedules annual compliance calibrations.
* Manages laboratory chemical and supply inventory, ensuring proper storage and tracking expiration dates.
a. Submits monthly inventory reports to the Chief Operator/Supervisor.
* Develops, updates, and implements laboratory procedures (SOPs) to improve efficiency, accuracy, and safety.
a. Communicates procedural changes to operators.
b. Stays current on laboratory methods and safety practices.
* Participates in on-call rotation for SCADA monitoring and performs WTP checks on weekends and holidays.
* May be required to repair various WTP issues off hours
* Assists or leads Lead Service Line Inventory (LSLI) and Lead and Copper Rule (LCR) sampling and reporting to the state and residents.
* Assists in gathering of data for requests from various agencies, such as: hydro-geologist, engineers, DES, EPA
* Assists with obtaining quotes and purchase requests for lab services, calibrations, and equipment repairs.
* Responds to water quality inquiries and complaints from residents and other departments.
a. Develops SOPs for common water quality concerns.
b. Tracks water quality issues using the Vue-Works layer.
* Uses computer systems, spreadsheets, and databases to manage and analyze data.
* Develops/assists in creation of database tracking program monitoring water quality results.
* Provides general support such as answering calls, assisting customers, and scheduling appointments or meetings.
* Maintains effective working relationships with coworkers, public, labs, and reporting agencies.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS: Thorough knowledge of water quality testing procedures and protocols, including physical, chemical, and microbiological analysis. Strong understanding of Federal and State drinking water regulations. Proficiency in the use and calibration of laboratory instruments and equipment. Ability to maintain meticulous and accurate records and reports. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with staff and regulatory agencies. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent and at least 12 semester units in chemistry or related field at a college or university required ; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, environmental science, or a related field is preferred. At least two (2) years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in water quality analysis, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Grade I Water Works Operator Certification is required within the first 6 months of hire.

The Medical Laboratory Scientist I, in their role as Testing Personnel as defined by CLIA, are responsible for specimen processing, test performance and for reporting waived and non-waived test results. Under general supervision, each individual performs only those tests that are authorized by the laboratory manager and require a degree of skill commensurate with the individual's education, training or experience, and technical abilities.
Essential Functions
-As outlined by CLIA, after successful completion of orientation, training and competency assessment on all instruments/methods applicable to their role:
-Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
-Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.
-Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
-Follow the laboratory's established corrective action policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
-Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical consultant, technical supervisor, clinical consultant or director
-Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.

Our Scarborough, ME laboratory is seeking a Lab Analyst to join their team! The Lab Analyst I prepares and analyzes samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS' analytical SOPs. Job functions:
* After appropriate training independently, prepares and analyzes samples according to SGS' analytical SOPs using instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies
* Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of laboratory instruments/equipment
* May assist with validation and MDL studies.
* Assists with investigation, and preparation of responses to client inquiries and CARs.
* Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations.
* Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable.

Qualifications
* Associate Degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline and 0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories OR 3 years of relevant experience (i.e. Sample Prep) (Required)
* Bachelor's Degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline and 1-2 years of years' relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (Preferred)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: LAB AIDE
Quality:
Participates in the Laboratory Quality Control (QC), Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) policies and projects
Perform CLIA waived testing in accordance with regulations and department best practices as trained and deemed competent
Perform pre-analytical sample processing within the Chemistry, Hematology and Microbiology sections as trained and deemed competent
Maintains competency as required by CLIA regulations and Laboratory policy
Assures quality of care by adhering to hospital and Laboratory policies and procedures
Clerical:
Performs Outpatient Laboratory Registrations to include (but not limited to): new patient profiles, consent to treat, insurance verification and diagnosis/ICD-10 entry.

Phlebotomy:
Performs venipuncture in accordance with regulations and best practices
Performs capillary blood collection in accordance with regulations and best practices.
Performs venipuncture and capillary collections utilizing age-appropriate technique
Provides information to the patient within the scope of their practice, referring technical questions to the appropriate Supervisor, Manger, Medical Director or patient's physician

BA in related science or 2 years of college coursework, from an accredited college or university, and at least 1 year of practical laboratory experience
Practical laboratory experience is defined as:
Having involved full-time work of 30 or more hours per week,
Having not been completed as part of any educational requirement, even if it did not lead to the conferring of a degree, and
Having taken place in a laboratory or cannabis testing facility performing analytical scientific testing in which the testing methods are or were recognized by a laboratory-accrediting body.

This Lab Technician position in the P&W North Berwick Materials Control Lab will be fully dedicated to Material Process Control (MPC). The new Hire will train directly with senior MCL Technician's and Supervision for no less than 1 year before independently approving calibration reports.
What You Will Do
Manage calibration and preventative maintenance (PM) of delicate instrumentation used in a Quality Laboratory setting
Ensure appropriate documentation and traceability of calibration and testing results
Manage routine thermal processing equipment audits/surveys
Assist senior technicians with methods, techniques, standards, and use of calibration equipment
Maintain and answer for calibration of thermal equipment during customer and internal audits
Review specifications and requirements. Make thoughtful decisions to best meet requirements imposed
Use computer equipment and learn new programs to best facilitate data input, review, reporting, and storage
Maintain active dialogue with other groups, such as Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Facilities, and Production
Effectively collaborate with others to ensure timely completion of testing to support production goals
Foster positive communication and attitude with coworkers and customers
Perform other duties as assigned by supervision to meet business needs

Qualifications You Must Have
High School or GED
3+ years of experience working with thermal manufacturing processes and equipment or a completed degree/certificate from a post-secondary or vocational school in a related field with 1+ years related experience
