NE05 Under the general supervision of the HWPS Laboratory Manager, the Simulation Lab Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day programing support of the HWPS simulation labs technology that support the College's learning environment. This includes programing, reset and supply, set up and cleaning the mannequins between each lab. Provides training and demonstrations on simulation lab equipment and mannequins.
Duties & Responsibilities
Planning, research and development of specific health simulation scenarios for the various users of the simulation equipment. Also includes programming simulation mannequins.
Operation of the simulation equipment during scenarios, including reset and resupply between scenarios. Also includes time spent as a standardized patient (actor in the role of a patient) and student orientation.
Setup and clean-up of simulation activities including props to stage the scene, medical moulage, supplies used in the scenario, and basic preventative maintenance for simulation equipment.
Learning Space administration and utilization including creation of user groups and simulation events.
Individual Professional development and training of faculty and staff to use simulation equipment.
Performs other related duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Employees are required to comply with safety regulations, procedures, protocols, OSHA standards, and wear personal protective gear if required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Performs/results and documents clinical laboratory testing exercising independent judgment and responsibility.
2. Notes abnormal patient results and informs supervisor, pathologist, or principal investigator as appropriate.
3. Operates laboratory equipment, interfaces and instruments, performs and documents basic maintenance procedures.
4. Performs routine logging for QC/QA purposes. Collects and compiles QA data as directed. Monitors QC for trends and takes and documents corrective action as needed or directed.
5. Performs troubleshooting procedures. Identifies testing problems and recommends appropriate solutions using defined guidelines.
6. Actively participates in regulatory inspections.
7. Takes inventory as needed or appropriate. Orders supplies for the Section/Department as directed.
8. Assists with training of new staff and/or students.
9. Serves as a liaison with internal and external customers/employees/clients.
10. Depending on the site or department, may participate in the POCT oversight program including but not limited to;
a) training lab and non-lab personnel in the use of waived testing.

Maintains the department inspection ready at all times, in accordance with CLIA-88 regulations, (CFR 493.1451, CFR 493.1487 -1491)

PRI is seeking a full-time employee, for an opportunity as a Lab Technician to breakdown, setup, and calibrate laboratory equipment. The candidate will lead the set up and adjustment of laboratory apparatuses to include experiment tables at the request of scientists and engineers supporting the Logistics Material Control Activity at the Air Force Research Laboratory, Kirtland, AFB, NM. Personnel will perform a variety of activities including, but not limited to, the service functions listed below.
Perform duties found within Performance Work Statement pertaining to Laboratory Technician Duties (1.3.4) in accordance with Air Force Instructions and Technical Directives.
Performs laboratory tests according to prescribed standards.
Set up and adjust laboratory apparatuses to include experiment tables at the request of scientists and engineers. Perform inspections and resolve discrepancies in locally developed laboratory operations and AF safety checklists.
Perform laboratory maintenance/materiel management support tasks per AFRLI 21-101 and AFRLI 23-141. Operate and maintain basic laboratory machinery (e.g., laser chillers, clean room systems, vacuum pumps, generators, vacuum chambers, ovens, air compressors, etc.) in accordance with all technical and user manuals and other technical directives.
Assist with field testing operations, test asset movement/positioning, and coordinate transportation requirements to/from the test ranges (on and off Kirtland AFB NM). Operate select government motor vehicles/forklifts as necessary to meet mission requirements. Perform required inspections, cleaning and basic servicing, and arrange for maintenance actions on Air Force owned/leased vehicles and equipment items [trailers/Other Government Motor Vehicle Conveyances (OGMVCs); total 56] per local policy and as directed by the PRS VCO.
Manage laboratory equipment, stock, and components (to include equipment/IT custodian). Manage hazardous communication and waste programs per OSHA and AF policies, including the Kirtland AFB Hazardous Waste Management Plan.
Sets up and adjusts laboratory apparatuses and equipment.
Service beyond established hours may be required when the mission dictates to include traveling to support essential operations/functions. Laboratory technicians may be required to perform shift work per the customer's mission needs.
Records test results on standard forms, writes test reports describing procedures used, prepares graphs and charts, and cleans and sterilizes laboratory apparatuses.
Requirements
Employees shall be able to read, write, speak and comprehend English, have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in email or verbally.
Must be able to obtain and retain a secret security clearance.
Must have current state driver's licenses to operate materiel handling equipment and up to a medium duty non-Commercial Driver's License required truck.
At least two years of experience with any of the disciplines that may be required of the position including but not limited to:
Laboratory assistance
Setup, operation, and basic maintenance of laboratory machinery
Transportation of equipment, and material

* Assistance During Procedures: Assist physicians during interventional procedures by providing necessary instruments and supplies, and by maintaining a sterile environment.
* Contrast Media Administration: Prepare and administer contrast media under the direction of a physician, following established protocols.
* Image Evaluation and Archiving: Evaluate images for technical quality and ensure proper archiving in the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)
* Patient Monitoring: Monitor patients during procedures, observing for any complications or unusual events, and report findings to the physician.

Under general direction, the Laboratory Animal Sciences Technician 3 will perform a variety of tasks following established techniques and procedures. The Technician will assist in study execution; collect samples from and administers agents to research animals as IACUC approved studies require. Will exercise judgment in the collection and processing of samples such as blood, serum, plasma, tissue and urine. Works with a variety of animal species and work assignments are relatively complex. tasks will involve both in-vivo and in-vitro procedures.
Documents laboratory work to acceptable standards and maintains laboratory/medical equipment and supplies in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), protocols and regulations. The successful candidate will assist in administrative functions of study execution such as labeling collection tubes and transporting supplies to appropriate area, quality control review of data, coordinating sample shipment, and acting as shift or study lead. Activities as lead may include scheduling team work assignments and acting as primary point of contact for the study director for a particular shift.
Qualifications
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 3-5 years of related experience in a research, commercial or hospital laboratory or an associate's degree and 2-4years of experience in a research, commercial or hospital laboratory, must have a minimum of 3 years of animal experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.
Requires strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Preferred computer proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Internet Explorer, Outlook and the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.
Requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and other heavy equipment, pushing, bending, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, outdoor work, working in extremes temperature and humidity. Must be able to wear a respirator and protective clothing or equipment. A Post-offer physical and background check/security clearance are required. Ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB) is required.
Preferred/Additional Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a scientific field and leadership experience preferred. ALAT and LAT certification is preferred. Incumbent is encouraged to sit for ALAT and/or LAT within 12 months as a level 2 technician. LAT and/or LATG within the first 24 months is encouraged.
Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a wet laboratory environment. Will operate standard laboratory equipment and will frequently stand, walk, sit, perform lab- and desk-based computer tasks, perform laboratory techniques requiring grasping/pipetting/hand dexterity, perform repetitive motions and occasionally lift objects that weigh up to 50 pounds. Will wear personal protective equipment which may include a respirator. May work in close proximity to an environment containing research animals and may be required to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious agents are present which may require vaccinations.
