QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
One year computer navigation and computer experience with Microsoft Office products (Word and Outlook) or comparable applications.
Typing or keyboarding skills.
Promote teamwork through demonstration of a courteous and cooperative attitude to all customers.
PREFERRED:
Six months of related medical training, medical terminology or related experience.
Previous phlebotomy experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Must possess speech, hearing and sight skills to perform the functions of the position. Manual dexterity required. Must be able to speak, read and write English proficiently. Some lifting may be required.
POSITION PURPOSE:

1. Collect and process biological specimens with appropriate techniques following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
2. Perform testing analysis and verify assay/analyzer performance according to SOP in an efficient cost effective manner. Any combination of the following areas may be included: Phlebotomy, computer operation, EKG, reception, telephones, clerical and designated testing procedures
3. Document and communicate lab test results thoroughly and accurately according to SOP.
4. Perform and document maintenance procedures plus maintain adequate supplies.
5. Demonstrate competency and comply with all regulatory agency policies.
6. Consistently implement and adhere to the laboratory customer service standards. The standards include maintaining confidentiality, promoting teamwork, successful communication and conflict resolution.
7. Respond proactively to stressful circumstances, customer needs and department/clinic changes.
8. Demonstrate professional development through participation in continuing education, special projects and community / corporate / professional organizations. Demonstrate personal development through dependability, professional appearance and cooperative attitude.

Summary:
The Cath Lab Technologist is responsible for assisting in diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab. This role involves preparing patients and equipment, monitoring hemodynamic data, assisting physicians during procedures, and ensuring patient safety throughout the process. The technologist operates specialized imaging equipment, maintains sterile technique, and collaborates with the healthcare team to provide high-quality patient care. This position requires technical expertise in cardiovascular procedures, critical thinking skills, and the ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations.
Essential Work Functions:
Prepare and position patients for cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, electrophysiology studies, and other interventional procedures
Assist physicians during procedures by passing catheters, wires, balloons, and stents, and operating fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring equipment
Operate and maintain imaging equipment, contrast injectors, and hemodynamic monitoring systems, ensuring proper functionality
Scrub in and assist with sterile field setup, ensuring adherence to infection control and procedural protocols
Perform sheath removal and hemostasis using manual compression or closure devices as directed
Maintain accurate documentation, including patient records, imaging data, and equipment logs
Assist with inventory management, stocking supplies, and ensuring proper storage of sterile instruments and medications
Adhere to radiation safety protocols, ensuring proper use of lead aprons, shields, and dosimeters
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements

Job Description
Position Purpose
The purpose of this position is to assist and tutor students in a lab setting to complete their educational requirements by providing the knowledge, skills, and assessments essential to obtain a credential in the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) field (EMR, EMT, and Paramedic). Additionally, the incumbent will operate virtual and physical equipment and software to assist faculty in running scenario-based learning and assessments.
Position Responsibilities
* Assist and tutor students in essential emergency skills aligned with EMS discipline standards. This will be done by facilitating proper techniques; helping students to understand the concepts; helping students to interpret results; assisting students in write-up of Emergency Skills Techniques; and operating simulation software, programs, and/or equipment.
* Maintain supply inventories. Control of emergency skills equipment and supplies by supervising the set-up of the emergency skills lab; prepping the materials, supplies and equipment needed; and maintaining standardization of said materials, supplies, and equipment.
* Deliver scenarios on state-of-the-art simulation equipment. Coordinate emergency skills procedures by testing course learning outcomes and assisting with testing of emergency skills/course set-up; supervising students during testing; checking results and recording scores.
* Service and maintain emergency skills equipment by checking operations; replacing used or broken equipment; and keeping inventory, stocking, and ordering of equipment as needed.
* Maintain emergency skills records by checking worksheets and recording grades. Will record test scores as requested.
Salary Range:
$21.89 - $30.58/hour

The shift differential for employees working before 6:00 A.M. or after 6:00 P.M. shall be two dollars and twenty-five cents ($2.25) per hour for all hours worked before 6:00 A.M. or after 6:00 P.M.

Job Description
Position Purpose
The purpose of this position is to assist and tutor students in a lab setting to complete their educational requirements by providing the knowledge, skills, and assessments essential to obtain a credential in the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) field (EMR, EMT, and Paramedic). Additionally, the incumbent will operate virtual and physical equipment and software to assist faculty in running scenario-based learning and assessments.
Position Responsibilities
Assist and tutor students in essential emergency skills aligned with EMS discipline standards. This will be done by facilitating proper techniques; helping students to understand the concepts; helping students to interpret results; assisting students in write-up of Emergency Skills Techniques; and operating simulation software, programs, and/or equipment.
Maintain supply inventories. Control of emergency skills equipment and supplies by supervising the set-up of the emergency skills lab; prepping the materials, supplies and equipment needed; and maintaining standardization of said materials, supplies, and equipment.
Deliver scenarios on state-of-the-art simulation equipment. Coordinate emergency skills procedures by testing course learning outcomes and assisting with testing of emergency skills/course set-up; supervising students during testing; checking results and recording scores.
Service and maintain emergency skills equipment by checking operations; replacing used or broken equipment; and keeping inventory, stocking, and ordering of equipment as needed.
Maintain emergency skills records by checking worksheets and recording grades. Will record test scores as requested.
Salary Range:
$21.89 - $30.58/hour
(DOQ - Salary Placement will be done at time of hire.)
The shift differential for employees working before 6:00 A.M. or after 6:00 P.M. shall be two dollars and twenty-five cents ($2.25) per hour for all hours worked before 6:00 A.M. or after 6:00 P.M.
Minimum Qualifications
Post-secondary or industry relevant licensure in Paramedics AND One (1) year of teaching/tutoring experience in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at the high school level or above OR
Four (4) years of work experience in Paramedics where no degree /certificate/diploma/licensure is required. OR
An equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Current post-secondary or industry certification/diploma/degree or relevant licensure in EMS, as well as American Heart Association CPR certification.
State of Minnesota EMSRB and National Registry certification.
EMS instructor certification (DOT or NAEMSE) or equivalent.
Experience with virtual and physical simulation
Mechanical aptitude, organizational skills, technology skills, innovative skills.
Strong human relation skills sufficient to effectively collaborate with students, faculty, and co-workers.

The Laboratory at Fairview Community Health and Wellness Hub offers a focused range of high-quality diagnostic testing services, including hematology, urinalysis, and urine pregnancy tests. We also support our patient care unit through efficient and responsive point-of-care testing. Staffed by a team of nearly 30 dedicated laboratory professionals (LCT, MLT, MLS at various FTE level) who are united in their commitment to delivering accurate and timely results, this laboratory emphasizes patient comfort while ensuring rapid turnaround times. Located in Downtown St. Paul, our facility plays a key role in a broader community initiative to advance health equity and improve access to care.
The Clinical Pathology Technician (CPT) performs all work processes necessary for the preparation or procurement and transport of specimens used for waived, moderate, or high complexity testing as defined by CLIA '88. The CPT possesses knowledge of all departments within the clinical laboratory (Chemistry, Blood Bank, Urinalysis, Hematology, Coagulation, and Microbiology), performs routine and specialty procedures, recognizes problems, identifies basic causes, and makes corrections using established protocols. The CPT processes data based on knowledge of technical and instrumental conditions affecting diagnostic test results and performs procedures within established parameters. The CPT collaborates with the customers of the laboratory to promote customer satisfaction and works independently under general supervision.
Responsibilities
* Specimen procurement and processing:
* Participates in specimen collection (bone marrow, blood, and body fluids) following established guidelines.
* Assists physicians and residents in obtaining specimens from patients of all ages and degrees of physical and/or mental disability.
* Properly verifies patient identity and "pauses for cause" in the collection of bone marrow.
* Coordinates and ensures adequate documentation of specimen drop-offs.
* Processes specimens, including centrifugation, aliquoting, preparation for transport to various reference labs, and storage at proper temperatures.

Requirements
Education & Licensure
* High school graduate
* Certified Phlebotomist or Certified Medical Assistant/Medical Assistant with phlebotomy training preferred
Experience
* Previous phlebotomy experience preferred
