Hands-on:
Material handling (e.g. transportation of materials within client sites as well as from client sites to transfer and/or end disposal facilities)
Safe handling of hazardous waste containers on client sites, as well as loading/unloading of waste from vehicles
Packaging and prepping of hazardous waste for shipment
Spill response measures, including assessment of the spills and potentially leading the cleanup efforts
Requires you to work 40+ hours per week and overtime is frequently required
Customer service:
Professional attitude, high energy, and high-level communication skills required when dealing directly with client representatives
High level of expertise (e.g. state/federal regulations, EHS standards, waste management procedures, etc.)
Train clients on proper chemical safety and hazardous waste management

**PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Handles hazardous materials including inventorying, identifying, segregating, and packaging waste material in accordance with Lab Pack policies, procedures and practices and all applicable regulations.
+ Perform onsite services which may include waste collection, consolidation (i.e., bulking, repackaging), sampling, safety/compliance inspections, and other related activities required by the customer/contract.
+ Assists other business groups, i.e., Depack, Retail and HHW, for both internally and onsite as needed. - Preparing shipment of packaged waste by inspecting, labeling, marking, and loading into the transport vehicle
+ Properly completes documentation including shipping papers, Land Disposal Restrictions (LDR's), evaluations/certifications and other required documentation in accordance with appropriate regulations and procedures.
+ May require obtaining and maintaining a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazmat Endorsement to legally operate Clean Earth vehicles necessary for transporting personnel and waste to and from customers' job locations.
+ Follows, understands, and promotes by example, all Health & Safety /Job Safety Analysis (JSA's) procedures including development of on-site Health &Safety plans/JSA's as outlined in the procedures and policies.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
**Starting pay $33.00 hourly.**
**Basic Requirements:**
+ An associate's degree in general science (BS preferred) is required for the Lab Pack Chemist.
+ Driver's License with clear record
+ Moderate to extensive travel with 20% overnight travel
+ Physical ability to lift and move material of various weights frequently exceeding 55 lbs.
+ Basic understanding of chemistry through general chemistry or biology
**This position requires a CDL B to be obtained within a 6-month period from your start date. Failure to obtain a CDL B within the 6-month period will mean you are no longer eligible for the Lab Pack Chemist position.**
**This position is also contingent upon successful completion of a DOT physical, DOT Drug Screen and any other DOL or company requirements.**

San José State University's Student Wellness Center (SWC) is seeking a Phlebotomist and Lab Assistant to support student access to laboratory testing and contribute to high-quality, student-centered healthcare services. Reporting to the Clinic Manager and receiving work direction from the Clinical Lab Scientist, this position performs phlebotomy and laboratory support services in accordance with established protocols and licensing requirements. The incumbent works collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff to collect and process specimens, support laboratory operations, and ensure a safe, efficient, and positive experience for student patients.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform phlebotomy services, including venipuncture and skin punctures, and collect specimens according to provider orders
* Process, label, and prepare laboratory specimens for in-house and external testing
* Perform basic and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) waived laboratory tests as permitted by training and licensure
* Enter and maintain accurate patient and laboratory information in electronic medical records
* Assist with laboratory inventory, equipment maintenance, sterilization, and infection control procedures
* Support patient flow and assist clinic staff during periods of high patient volume
* Communicate with vendors, external laboratories, and SWC staff to support laboratory operations
* Participate in meetings, training, and quality improvement initiatives
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Knowledge of clinical laboratory operations and equipment
* Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn laboratory safety and quality assurance practices, understand the hazards of specimen handling, and initiate appropriate safety or emergency procedures
* General knowledge of anatomy and physiology and medical terminology appropriate to the duties assigned and laboratory operations
* Proficiency in specimen collection and phlebotomy, including proper venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques
* Ability to perform assigned medical technical support services, standard tests, and limited CLIA-waived procedures with accuracy and attention to detail
* General knowledge of and ability to comply with applicable laws and regulations, including those governing clinical laboratory operations, CLIA-waived testing, patient confidentiality, and related state and federal requirements
* Ability to collect and compile medical histories and related data, ensuring accuracy in documentation, data entry, and recorded information
* Strong administrative and organizational skills and the ability to troubleshoot office administration issues, prioritize multiple tasks, and anticipate problems and their broader impacts

Preferred Qualifications

* At least one (1) year of demonstrated experience providing operational assistance to a laboratory, including schedules and communication with patients
* At least one (1) year of demonstrated experience processing laboratory tests under supervision and appropriate to licensure
