The Quality Technician plays a vital role in monitoring and maintaining all aspects of product safety and quality that enhances the customer experience and our food safety adherence. As such, the Technician performs multiple checks on product in finished goods form and as product is processed to meet our internal standards for food safety and quality. Feedback to quality process owners (e.g. operations technicians and management) with immediate corrective actions implemented is the primary means of ensuring process quality and, subsequently, a high integrity product. Key Responsibilities: · Conduct regular quality monitoring checks to verify that all products meet customer and legal requirements. Organization: Dermatology Job Summary: JOB SUMMARY Filling a high volume of clinical slides per day, and working to support the operations of a busy dermatopathology clinical lab. . JOB RESPONSIBILITIES File high volume of clinical dermatopathology glass slides for two separate work flows Direct line of contact; preferably direct text/phone access during office hours Handle slide requests, pull and track slides in both systems and send via ABC or Fed Ex Handle slide returns/tracking from outside sources in two work flows Request slides for consultation for physicians Track CTCL slide requests and when received, fill out requisition and send to VML for accessioning Package and send older slides to Iron Mountain as new slides come in to be filed Handle logistics for Iron Mountain ie; logging boxes on transmittal sheets and ensuring invoices are sent to appropriate personnel Problem solving- lost specimens, billing questions, patient calls, physician calls and questions, etc for two work flows Support physicians with system access and procedure in two work flows Track reports- delinquent cases, assist dermpath physicians in completing delinquent cases (pull gross reports, slides etc.) for two workflows. Ensure incomplete case reports are pulled routinely and cases are completed in a timely manner Able to work physically demanding position, managing small glass slides, with repetitive motions while seated for 5+ hours per day. Responsible for dispatch and/or transport of blood and other specimens. Assists the laboratory staff with clerical and technical tasks indirectly related to the delivery of quality patient care, for the purpose of diagnostic testing. May perform CLIA waived laboratory testing. Performs routine duties in the lab. Performs other duties as assigned. Responsibilities • Adhere to all specimen collection and preservation requirements, media requirements and storage. • Demonstrates proficiency in receiving specimens in the lab. • Follow accreditation standards, regulatory agency requirements and institutional policies. • Accurate and complete patient identification requirements, using at least three (3) unique patients identifiers. • Demonstrate proficiency in recording and retrieving laboratory data. • Timely distribution of samples. • Proficiency in specimen tracking. • Perform venipucture and capillary collection procedures following standard protocols to obtain blood specimens for laboratory testing • Proficiency in reference lab specimen requirements, receiving and processing. • Proficiency in loading and unloading of blood culture bottles and performing CLIA waived tests. • Assists customers, including answering phones and responding to customer inquiries • Cleans and maintains laboratory supplies and work area • Assists with training and educating new employees and students • Completes assigned goals. Education Minimum Required Certification/Degree in the following areas which include, but are not limited to medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical or biological or equivalent years of experience and education.
