Job Duties:

Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory personnel of the department

Requirements:

Previous supervisor/leadership experience is highly preferred

Key Responsibilities
Maintain and monitor quality control measures and clinical data to ensure optimal lab performance and pregnancy outcomes.
Develop and improve laboratory procedures.
Perform duties per lab policy, including semen analysis after/during treatment cycles, semen preparation for procedures, and sperm cryopreservation.
Handle media preparation, paperwork for IUI/chemistry reports, sperm prep for IUI, sperm survival tests, semen analysis with morphology, and Tosoh operation.
Conduct comprehensive semen analysis (count, motility, progression, morphology, viability as indicated).
Collect and submit data for compliance reviews, re-certifications, and organizational reporting.
Ensure optimal productivity and efficiency.
Maintain cryopreservation records and sperm storage.
Work flexible hours, including weekends, to support efficient lab operations.
Maintain quality control and assurance for CLIA compliance.
Review clinical data outcomes and discuss with care teams/physicians.
Ensure safe lab conditions, protecting employees from physical, chemical, and biological hazards.
Coordinate Testicular Sperm Aspirations with outside physicians.
Strictly follow SOPs and comply with all safety policies.

Position Requirements
Education: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience outside of academic coursework is required.
Experience working in an andrology or endocrine laboratory setting highly preferred.
Skills
Proficiency with compound microscopes and aseptic techniques, and ability to handle hazardous specimens.

Description of Duties:
Recruits must meet the physical and mental requirements of the job. An autopsy laboratory assistant is sometimes exposed to violent, unusual, unnatural, suspicious, and other types of death. This position is physically demanding and rigorous, requiring the ability to lift, push, pull, and bend repetitively. Recruits must be able to push, pull, slide, and roll bodies weighing 250-400 + lbs. An autopsy laboratory assistant is a visible representative of OCME and must follow the policies and procedures to maintain a professional and safe work environment.
Typical Functions:
Intake/Release of human bodies under OCME jurisdiction*.
Document/Update case log continuously.
Answer telephone calls and forward messages to appropriate staff members as necessary.
Stock all areas of the first floor and the autopsy lab
Assist with inventory receipt and delivery notifications, and help with inventory organization
Perform Radiologic procedures (CT, X-ray).
Washing, drying, folding, and putting away laundry.
Complete tasks appointed on the checklist.

Training:
The training schedule will be determined upon hire. The level of skill development will determine the duration of the training period, with a minimum of 3 weeks expected.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Knowledge of the Medical Examiner's office and 1-2 years of experience preferred
Skills and Competencies:
Experience with Microsoft 365 preferred, including:
Outlook
SharePoint
Excel
Word
Teams

Knowledge of Anatomy and Medical Terminology
Problem-solving skills
Good Communication
Multi-tasking skills
Attention to detail
Must be a self-starter
Special Requirements:
OCME employees must possess and maintain the physical and mental stamina to perform the required work and be willing to accept the physical discomforts inherent to this position.
Recruits must be 21 years of age, possess a valid ID, and be able to pass a rigid character background investigation.
OCME cannot simultaneously employ any funeral home or law enforcement agency employees.
Recruits cannot be related to a current OCME employee.
Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill all job-related travel typically associated with this position. Some positions may require possession of a valid Oklahoma Driver's license to operate state-owned vehicles. Some agencies may have determined positions in this job family to be safety sensitive as defined by 63 O.S. § 427.8
