Laboratory Assistants perform the standardized and recurring technical procedures in the natural, physical, or social sciences in a teaching and/or research laboratory; perform or supervise a variety of business operations related to management of a laboratory; and perform other related duties as required. Laboratory can be in any location where the measurements occur, and the equipment is located, indoors and outdoors, depending on the experiment.
The Lab Assistant will be responsible for setting up plot to research specifications, monitoring plot for integrity, collecting data, entering into spreadsheets, and making graphs and simple tables.
This position is a career appointment that is 100% fixed.
Two positions are available.
Pay Scale: $20.77/hour to $22.35/hour

Requirements:
Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and one year of laboratory experience or two years of college, including courses in the natural, physical, or social sciences; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with data collection and scientific studies.
Experience using and reading maps to navigate.
Experience using MS Excel for data collection and manipulation.
Special Conditions of Employment:
Must possess valid California Driver's License to drive a County or University vehicle. Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed, proof of liability damage insurance on vehicle used is required. Reimbursement of job-related travel will be reimbursed according to University policies.

Primary Responsibilities
Food Safety is the responsibility of all Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees. All Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees must be aware of CCPs in their area and how to document them appropriately. All staff must report food safety and quality problems to their immediate supervisor in charge during their shift.
Clean the fruit test extractor daily.
Extract and analyze fresh fruit samples and in a timely manner.
Analyze oil content using Berkel machine.
Perform oil efficiency testing in for feed, separator, and crème tanks.
Input data into the Portal/CitrOS/Sage with accuracy and speed.
Calibrate all laboratory equipment at the beginning of each shift.
Perform routine analytical tests for citric acid, brix, acidity, pH, coarse pulp, defects, and oil.
Perform chemical concentration level testing on PAA and water chlorine.
Pull samples from tanks and silos as directed.
Pull aseptic micro samples and perform product testing for pulp production lots.
Perform plantwide GMP audit during production run.
Participate in plantwide food safety culture audit.
Perform pre-operational audits as required, including Hygiena swabs.
Participate in all performance evaluation programs such as cross checks and JBT Co-Op samples.
Sample all outgoing peel trucks and analyze moisture content in a timely manner.
Communicate wet peel loads and/or pulp collection issues to production team to ensure corrective action.
Follow all safety rules and practices to include the wearing of all essential personal protective equipment.

Senior Clinical Laboratory Technologist, CF Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a valid California State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license or a license of equal or higher level issued by the State Department of Health Services. You will provide Medical Technicians (Phlebotomist) services for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the VA Central California Health Care System (VACCHCS).
As a VA contract phlebotomist, your care shall cover a range of routine and STAT testing on blood, urine and other body fluids in support of clinical chemistry, histology, toxicology, immunology, coagulation, hematology, urinalysis and microbiology as would be provided in a state-of-the-art health care facility and the standard of care shall be of a quality meeting or exceeding currently recognized national standards.
Contractor Phlebotomists (as appropriate and within scope of practice/ privileging) shall be responsible for providing routine and STAT testing on blood, urine, and other body fluids Services, including, but not limited to:
Collecting, transporting, processing, and evaluating specimen suitability for testing, including receiving, delivering, and storing specimens for all lab sections.
Contract phlebotomists shall follow all established patient safety and infection control standards of care. contract phlebotomists shall make every effort to prevent falls, and patient injury caused by acts of commission or omission in the delivery of care. All events related to patient injury and other breeches of patient safety shall be reported to the COR per VA Safety Policy.

Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager the Laboratory Technician 1 will be providing support to the Microbiology and Chemistry department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve primarily in a production atmosphere as support.
Performs all activities in a neat, safe, hygienic, and efficient manner.
Communicates with all laboratory personnel to ensure quality and efficient service.
Maintains customer satisfaction and appropriate confidentiality.
Working knowledge of ISO 17025 Quality procedures related to sample documentation.
Maintain a professional attitude and acceptable working relationship with coworkers, offering assistance when applicable.
Assists with washing and maintaining lab ware.

Prepares and sets up samples for analysis.
Maintains laboratory condition (i.e.: equipment, supplies, quality assurance, and accurate records throughout all procedures).

Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A.S or B.S. in Biology and/or Chemistry preferred, or equivalent experience.
Possess knowledge and demonstrate skills of aseptic technique.
High attention to detail is a must.
