Laboratory Assistants perform the standardized and recurring technical procedures in the natural, physical, or social sciences in a teaching and/or research laboratory; perform or supervise a variety of business operations related to management of a laboratory; and perform other related duties as required. Laboratory can be in any location where the measurements occur, and the equipment is located, indoors and outdoors, depending on the experiment.
The Lab Assistant will be responsible for setting up plot to research specifications, monitoring plot for integrity, collecting data, entering into spreadsheets, and making graphs and simple tables.
This position is a career appointment that is 100% fixed.
Two positions are available.
Pay Scale: $20.77/hour to $22.35/hour

Requirements:
Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and one year of laboratory experience or two years of college, including courses in the natural, physical, or social sciences; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with data collection and scientific studies.
Experience using and reading maps to navigate.
Experience using MS Excel for data collection and manipulation.
Special Conditions of Employment:
Must possess valid California Driver's License to drive a County or University vehicle. Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed, proof of liability damage insurance on vehicle used is required. Reimbursement of job-related travel will be reimbursed according to University policies.

Duties and Responsibilities
Collects and interprets analytical and environmental chemistry, biology, toxicology, hydrology, meteorology, and other related data and observes and clearly notates field conditions, meeting notes, etc. related to aquatic invasive species management;
Requires existing familiarity with standard and specialized aquatic toxicology laboratory equipment including but not limited to water quality testing equipment (Ph, EC, turbidity, etc.), hot water baths, compound microscope, laboratory glassware, flow-through aquaculture systems, and submersible pumps;

* Field Emission Electron Microscope (Low KV Imaging UHR).
* Scanning Electron Microscope (High SEM and ESEM Modes).

The program aims to provide potential candidates with valuable work experience in an emergency 9-1-1 system. As EMTs, candidates can expect to be trained in all aspects of medical emergency response by hands-on practical application of medical emergency response methodologies, along with the opportunity to work towards 1200 hours of experience for Paramedic School (California).
This is an unpaid Volunteer/Intern position for Active Duty Service members participating in the SkillBridge program prior to completion of military service. Internship is limited to 180 days, however amount of days will be based on unit command approval. Must be available to work 40 hour per week, schedule will be four, 10 hour shifts.
