THE ROLE OF A LABORER Under close supervision, keeps facility litter free and performs various loadchecker duties, and assists with other projects as needed. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, AND ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

* Deals with customers in a professional manner. Responds to customers politely, courteously or firmly, as the situation dictates.
* Answers customer questions.
* Takes the appropriate action in accordance with amount and types of materials found, and customer attitude. Asks appropriate personnel for assistance when needed.
* Works in a respectful manner with fellow employees.
* Keeps accurate daily records.

This position will work under the supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisor.)
Under the supervision, the incumbent performs skilled physical labor in support of natural resource maintenance and restoration projects. Duties include invasive plant removal using manual and herbicide methods; assisting with prescribed fire area preparation, and mop-up; vegetation removal; site cleanup; and planting and maintaining native vegetation. The position safely operates and maintains hand tools, small equipment, and vehicles, and works with or may provide work direction to State Parks staff, CCC crews, Cal Fire crews, contractors, and volunteers to ensure compliance with project requirements and environmental permits. Responsibilities also include documenting field work through written records, photographs, basic spatial data collection using handheld GPS devices, and completing vehicle inspections and monthly logs.
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.
The work schedule is Monday through Thursday 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

Qualifications:

Working conditions:
This is a 40 hour per week, full-time positions. Daily job hours fluctuate but are generally around M-F 7:00AM to 3:30PM with a 30 minute daily lunch break. This position does require occasional overtime and weekend work. Overtime and weekend work hours are dependent on customer need and are to be preapproved.
Physical requirements:
This is a physically demanding position which requires lifting items of 50lbs or more by yourself. This position will often need to lift heavy tools and materials around rooftops and/or job sites. Foreman work in high temperature situations regularly (100+ degrees Fahrenheit) in summer months.

Job Description:
This position assists with the construction, repair, and maintenance of underground facilities. For compliance with certain jobs, this position may also be recruited from a state construction labor-approved apprenticeship program.
Job Duties:
Safely operate entry-level construction tools and equipment associated with construction activities, including trenchers, forklifts, tampers, mud-vacs, etc.
Digging, backfilling, and all other entry-level processes associated with underground construction activities.
Assists with the preparation, installation, and maintenance of cables, conduits, vaults, and pedestals for copper and fiber cables according to safety regulations and engineering drawings and plans.
Pulls wire associated with low voltage or electrical construction.
Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.
Clean or prepare construction sites.
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
Job Requirements:
Must have a high School diploma or equivalent.
1+ year of manual construction labor preferred
Willing to travel and work occasional overtime/ weekend hours.
Willing to work on both private and prevailing wage projects.
