To supervise a construction/repair crew consisting of a Semi-Skilled Laborer, a Laborer and a Truck Driver. To direct them performing minor maintenance and repairs to the water distribution and wastewater collection systems. To direct them in the installation of sewer and water taps. To direct them in the installation of new water or sewer mains. To ensure each work site is maintained in a safe manner. Must be familiar with water and sewer tapping machines. Must have basic plumbing skills and be familiar with materials associated with such. Must be able to install D.I., PVC, C.I. and clay pipe and their appurtenances. Must be able to set water meters, meter boxes, and run water services from main to property. Must be able to install, replace and repair fire hydrants, water valves and set paving boxes. Must be able to use hand tools and specialty tools used in the water and sewer industry. Must be able to work safely without injury to self and others. Must be able to install, replace and repair precast concrete manholes, risers and ring/lid assemblies. Understand and direct the setup of traffic control devices and road closures. Must be able to run power equipment including gas powered compaction packers, gas powered cut-off saws, hydraulic saws, hydraulic jack hammers, hydraulic pumps, air tools, jack hammers, impact wrenches, etc. Must be able to operate a forklift, backhoe, loader and trac-hoe as needed. HOURLY: $14.62 JOB OBJECTIVE: Under general supervision from the Director of Sanitation/Public Works or his/her designee. Is responsible for general labor of the corresponding department. Will occasionally prepare simple reports and/or records on a daily basis. Position has little or no contact with the public. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Lead crews on assigned projects to see that projects are completed and performed in a professional, cost effective and timely manner. Adheres to personnel, safety, and department policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. A High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required. A Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Grade "C" Water Distribution License is required by date of hire. Major Job Responsibilities Professionally represents U.S. Lawns at all times. Able to respond properly to the client and follow up to make sure their needs have been completed to their satisfaction. Maintains positive, responsive and flexible attitude to all clients. Inspects site and advises client of potential liabilities. Able to assign tasks to crew members and follow up to make sure that work was completed properly. Trains crew members to do job effectively Can effectively communicate in English and/or Spanish what is to be learned. Able to evaluate the performance of the crew. Maintains and promotes safe working conditions in the field at all times Follows company procedures on discipline if any safety rules are broken. Conducts and documents safety tailgate meetings weekly with the crew. Is accountable for neglect and abuse of assigned equipment Able to maintain all jobs to bid specifications. Maintain client satisfaction Maintain a punch list with priorities on it to aid in making schedules. Monitors all irrigation controllers. Able to read and write Shall possess a valid State driver's license appropriate to the class and capability of the vehicle(s) that they are assigned to operate and driving record must meet company standards as well as the State requirements where the vehicle is driven.
