Qaqaq Construction is seeking a General Laborer to support various physical tasks on construction sites. Responsibilities include site preparation and cleanup, trench digging, scaffolding setup, demolition, and debris removal. The role also involves loading and distributing materials, tools, and equipment to designated areas. May operate a range of hand and power tools such as air hammers, tampers, cement mixers, hoists, and measuring instruments. This position may also assist skilled trades and perform other duties as assigned. **Responsibilities** Essential functions will include: + Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate hazards. + Erect and dismantle scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures. + Load, unload, and distribute building materials, tools, and machinery to appropriate locations. + Measure, mark, and record layout dimensions for construction activities. + Operate pumps, compressors, or generators to power tools, equipment, or move materials. + Mix, pour, and spread concrete using portable cement mixers. + Control and direct traffic around work zones. + Dig trenches or ditches, backfill excavations, and compact or level earth using hand and pneumatic tools. MAINTENANCE LABORER GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Assists in a variety of tasks in connection with the maintenance, repair and cleaning of building, grounds and equipment. General directions are received in connection with each assignment and supervision is received while work is in progress and upon completion. EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Illustrative Only) - Assists in a variety of tasks in regard to the up-keep of buildings, grounds and equipment; - Prepares surfaces for painting by sanding, scraping, washing and applying paint or varnish remover; - Assists in the painting of walls, doors, windows and equipment; - Assists in the maintenance of buildings by replacing light bulbs, fuses, repairing and replacing switch outlets, electric lights, alarm lights, etc.; - Assists in the maintenance of grounds by mowing lawns, trimming shrubbery, sweeping sidewalks, removing ice and snow, etc.; - Helps to clean and maintain tools, machinery and other mechanical equipment; - Cleans and operates trash compactors; - Loads and unloads trucks; - Performs a variety of tasks in relation to cleaning operating machinery in buildings.
