Under the supervision of the E&A supervisor or group leader, the technician will perform all functions under this job description. Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)
Perform all general labor functions (Sweep floors, empty trash, cut grass/remove snow when needed)
Load/unload trucks
Operate fork truck
Operate jib hoist
Operate small power tools
Operate and maintain all personal safety equipment
Assemble all standard products, such as disposorbs, vaporpacs, high flow ventsorbs, etc.
Pressure test all assembled units to meet necessary requirements
Recondition small returnable units, such as cyclesorbs, bulk bins, etc.
Weigh/Load carbon into the small systems as needed.
Assist in receiving and verification of quantities of materials and parts delivered to E&A.
Read instructions & drawings as necessary for the reconditioning and assembly of standard products.
Fabricates lined pipe (PPL and TFE). This includes cutting, threading, assembly, flaring and testing of pipe spools from 1” through 4”.
Cuts, threads, and assembles carbon steel pipe, plastic pipe and stainless steel pipe
Assists with warehousing duties.
Performs layout and assembly on all small equipment such as cyclesorbs, bulk bins, vapor paks and high flow ventsorbs (and fan skids).
Maintain CCC's service equipment. This includes dual modules, mobile adsorbers, filters, etc. Duties include review of system when returned from customers, preparation of list(s) of required repairs and parts, performance of repairs to the mechanical parts of the systems as well as localized (spot) lining/painting repairs
Pickup parts and or make small equipment deliveries
Qualifications
A High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred
0-2 years of general labor experience
Industrial labor experience is preferred

To clean and prepare molds and assist First Pitman in setting pit and stripping. To assist furnace crew in material handling when required. To assist in dome assembly and positioning for vacuum degassed heats, assist in operating mold furnace, cut hot top blocks.
Tools and Equipment:
Stools, molds, regular or expendable hot tops, charging buckets, hooks, chains, shovel, hammer, calking chisels, air spray, paint brush, paint mixer, scraper, wire brush, wheelbarrow, pony ladle, dome, air hammer, pendant control crane, mold furnace, 1300 process programmer and related equipment, hand saw and ruler, etc.
Materials:
Refractory and expendable materials, plugs, inserts, and mold coating, wood for hot top blocks, etc.
Direction Exercised:

Working Procedures:
Cleans and prepares molds for cast. Uses scraper and wire brush to clean molds. Mixes paint and uses air spray or brush to paint molds. Uses gas burner to heat molds as required.
Assists First Pitman in setting molds and hot tops for cast.
Assists in stripping operations.
Cleans and positions stools, places insert in stool or plug in mold.
Positions ring on hot top and drives wedge to tighten.
Assists in dumping slag pots when required.

Assists in slag-off as required.
Assists in any emergency such as cut-outs, ladle failures, cave-ins, etc. as required.

For vacuum degassed heats:
Assist in hook up and movement of pony ladle as required; assist in positioning and clamping pony ladle on vacuum degasser dome; after tap, assist in unclamping ladle from dome; direct crane dumping ladle into slag pot as required.
Assist in hook up of assembled vacuum degasser dome; signal crane in positioning dome on vacuum tank. After tap, disconnect TV and stopper leads and signal crane in removing dome from vacuum tank to storage.
Assist in positioning stream restrictor in dome. May direct crane in placing or removal of flange protection ring from tank. May clean tank ring and check "O" ring seals as required. Assist in placing protective covers on stopper rods and ladles.
May assist Ladleman of First Pitman in other work as directed.
As directed perform or assist in preparation of restrictors, remove steel skulls and apply slurry as required.
As directed assist in stripping unelflux ingots. May occasionally operate pendant control crane as required.
Assist or as directed perform duties inherent with mold furnace operation such as load and unload molds, stools, etc. on mold furnace buggy; position in and remove buggy from furnace: position furnace door; start monitor and shut off furnace cycle; may make furnace adjustments as required during furnace cycle.
Cut hot top blocks as directed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The student worker will help implement the PA Hunger-Free Campus Grant awarded to Chatham University for the grant timeframe of Jan 1 - Dec 31, 2025. As such, the student will play a key role in data collection related to Grant goals and objectives by participating in spreadsheet creation, monitoring of data collection and data entry. Student will be responsible for the communications aspect of the grant - both helping to gather and assess student input as well as sharing out information through flyers, newsletters, email, etc. with students about the food security initiatives funded by the grant. The student is asked to think critically while doing the work to help the team problem solve and adjust processes as necessary. Sensitivity to the issues of student food insecurity is required.
Specifically:
Help create spreadsheets and systems to capture (in pounds) food procurement (purchased, donated foods, and Eden Hall-grown) and food and meal distribution on all three campuses. Enter collected data in appropriate data base.
Help create spreadsheets and systems to capture numbers of students using the Essential Needs Pantries and Free Frig on all three campuses. Enter collected data in appropriate data base.
Track the pounds of Eden Hall produce that are transformed into shelf-stable products
Track number of students attending the monthly Fresh Market give-aways and the pounds of food provided through that venue.
Communicate, through newsletters, flyers, emails and more, the resources this grant enables us to provide to Chatham students.
Play an integral role with the Hunger Free Campus Team in the creation of the grant-funded Buying Club
