The Childcare Worker is responsible for the supervision and management of all assigned children. The Childcare Worker interacts directly with the children and models appropriate adult-child interactions for the parents. SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist Group and Assistant Teachers in maintaining a positive, developmentally appropriate, safe and healthy learning environment. Assist in implementing weekly lesson plans developed by the Group and Assistant Teachers. Actively participate in individual and group child activities. Assist in the daily set up, break down and cleaning of the classroom. Assist in serving all daily snacks and meals for assigned children with the support of Group and Assistant Teachers. Provide day shift classroom coverage during staff absences, vacancies or as needed. Provide childcare to children who are not actively engaged in the licensed daycare and/or when parents are unavailable to provide supervision. Provide support as needed to the Women/Children component of Odyssey House under the supervision of Education Director Maintain proper inventory and functioning of all classroom equipment, materials and children supplies with the support of Group and Assistant Teachers. Participate in all classroom trips and outings. Attend all required in-service training seminars, staff meetings and on and off-site case conferences. Participate in quality improvement activities and staff development. Follow and implement licensing requirements per DOHMH and Odyssey House policies. Other relevant duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES High School Diploma or G.E.D. and two (2) years of experience working with children required. Associate's degree and one (1) year of experience working with children preferred. Experience working, supporting and teaching children is recommended. CPR/First Aid Certification recommended (we could require it, but we also provide the class,so I say recommend and once hired have them trained within 3 months) NYS Central Registry Check and fingerprint clearance required upon hire. Knowledge of NYC Department of Health regulations and codes recommended. Proficiency with computer operations (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook programs) required. Must be able to lift small children. Hours: Full-time (35-40 hours per week) Work days: Mon - Friday Day-time Shifts: 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM Job Site Locations: Brooklyn Pay: $18.50 Benefits: Medical insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Referral program Tuition reimbursement Weekly Pay 401k Plan Life insurance Disability insurance Paid Family Leave Pet Insurance Work Boots reimbursement Duties and Responsibilities: Driving a truck around Manhattan and Brooklyn boroughs cleaners performing litter pickup in outdoor common areas, piers, ferry landings and sidewalks cleaners performing window cleaning, wipe down railings, sweep up sidewalks cleaners removing and replacing trash bags in trash can cleaners cleaning and maintaining the interior and exterior of city-owned properties following company policies and quality standards taking before and after photos and performing shift reports Mandatory Snow Removal and possible overtime Graffiti removal and sticker removal Remove water off the landings within 10 days of employment must be able to pass the TWIC background check Minimum Qualifications: Must have a working phone that is able to download three mobile apps used to complete the job Must be in good physical condition and health, without mental or physical disabilities or impairments which would reasonably be expected to interfere with the performance of the services or prevent you from being able to walk your assigned route Ability to work in varying weather conditions (rain, snow, sleet, heat, cold) Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds Must be age 18 or over Must at least 2 years of driving experience in New York City, have a great safe driving record, and be able to pass driving test Must speak and read english Must be able to work outdoors Must have a NY ID Accommodation: Candidates for the position should be able to perform essential job duties in described work environment with or without accommodation.
