The mission of Lafayette Consolidated Government is to enhance the quality of life of our community by providing high-quality, cost-effective services that meet the needs and expectations of the public. Headquartered in 705 W University Ave, Lafayette, LA 70506. Louisiana was divided into parishes and Lafayette Parish was created in its boundaries by 1823 and had a separate governement like the other five smaller municipalities. The Lafayette Parish joined with the City of Lafayette with voter approval of the 1992 City-Parish Consolidated Government Home Rule Charter. It is now a legal entity with urban service districts that exercise all powers granted by state law and state constitution.
