    The Athletic Trainer is a member of the Sports Medicine outreach team. In this capacity they have a responsibility to the organizations for the evaluations, treatment, rehabilitation, and medical referral to a consultant. Their primary patients are athletes and individuals associated with athletic programs. SUPERVISION: Reports directly to the Director LA Sports Medicine Alliance RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Demonstrates proper taping, strapping, bracing, and fitting of athletic equipment. Develops training programs and routines designed to improve athletic performance on the play area. Ability to accurately evaluate and assess the injury to ensure proper treatment if needed. Carries out all prescribed treatments and recommendations by the team/program/event physician. Cover assigned pre-season physicals, sports games or matches, and related events under the supervision of the program manager. Communicate with parents, athletic coaches, etc., recommendations for handling aspects of care relating to athletic injuries. Ability to read, write and speak intelligible English; Strong quantitative, analytical, and organizational skills; Ability to communicate orally and in written form. Must be detail oriented. Requires emotional stability and maturity; Must be adaptable to change, be decisive, and demonstrate foresight; Exhibits organizational and leadership ability. Must be team oriented with strong interpersonal skills. Physical Demands/Work Environment Must be able to assist with or transfer athletes of various weights/heights, push carts with athletic equipment on them. After pre-analytic processing, the clerical staff member will then deliver all specimens to the Analytical area of the lab for Medical Technologist to complete testing. All clerical staff members are also responsible for our outpatient area for pre-employment laboratory processing of all LCMH employees and pre-op laboratory services. Clerical staff members will complete daily temperature and disinfection checks. Clerical staff members are also the laboratorys first line of customer service representation. Each employee will answer and respond to questions or concerns presented by hospital staff or outside organizations. Job Summary and QualificationsEach individual, under general supervision, performs only those tests that are authorized by the laboratory director to provide data for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. The testing may involve analyses of blood, urine, body fluids and any other materials of human or animal origin; performing blood group, type and compatibility tests for transfusion purposes; using automated or semi-automated instrumentation and/or manual methods; using a microscope for counts and morphology; analyzing test results and utilizing an information system. Demonstrates competency and documents all QC, lot-to-lot, calibration, maintenance, and communication logs in an efficient and accurate manner.
