Job Description
The Water Utility QA Distribution Operator - Backflow Prevention is responsible for a broad range of duties for maintaining backflow prevention compliance within the water distribution system.
Essential Job Functions:
Will work to become a main resource in all areas related to Backflow Prevention, including inspection requirements and regulations.
Conducts visual inspection of all backflow devices in the distribution system. Maintains a log of all devices utilizing Cityworks software.
Prepares initial and follow up notifications to consumers to maintain backflow prevention compliance in the distribution system.
Maintains a clean working environment at all tanks, booster stations, and office areas. Work includes removal of trash, sweeping and removal of any debris on the premises.
Under direct supervision, operates and checks equipment, instruments, pumps, valves and related apparatus and facilities. Finds and corrects operating problems.
May assist with flushing dead-end and unidirectional hydrants or blow offs to maintain acceptable chlorine residual and maintain a flushing log.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have a High School diploma or GED. A valid Ohio Driver's license with a safe driving record and a drug screening are required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Applicants familiar with maintenance and repair of pumps, motors, valves, gauges, backflow preventers and regulators are preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft office, GPS collection, blueprints and maps is preferred. Good written and verbal communication skills; ability to have effective working relationships with fellow coworkers, public officials, the general public and regulatory agencies (OEPA) is preferred. This position will include physical labor, including working outdoors in all types of weather conditions. This position may require emergency call out response at all hours of the day and night including weekends and holidays.

The Crime Scene Technician responds to and processes all types of crime scenes upon request and is responsible for the chain of custody and storage of all evidence and property gathered. Primary
Processes crimes scenes for trace evidence and other forms of evidence. Collects, packs, and documents evidence, and transports it to examination facilities or secure storage areas.
Assists in the investigation of criminal activities by providing evidential processing support to the Detective and Uniform Divisions of the Department.
Maintains absolute chain of custody of criminal evidence and/or property.
Maintains confidentiality of records and knowledge of investigations and does not divulge information to non-law enforcement persons or entities.
Testifies in criminal and civil trials regarding the handling of evidence and property items.
Manages the property/evidence database system of the Department in accordance with Department policies.
Reviews case status and dispositions to determine those items of evidence and/or property that can be disposed of or returned to the property owner.
Contacts property owners to release items of evidence and/or property from the Evidence Room, as appropriate.
Processes evidentiary videos for storage and/or dissemination to supporting agencies. Processes media devices for the collection of stored data.
Orders and distributes Department supplies and materials related to the evidence collection/property management function.
Has thorough knowledge and understanding of all of the Department's General Orders, while at the same time maintaining the confidentiality of all General Orders so as to better ensure the health and safety of all members of the Department and of the public at large.

Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum knowledge equivalent to a bachelor's of science degree in physical science, business administration, or related field.
Minimum experience equivalent to over one year in the job duties outlined herein.
Minimum experience equivalent to over one year with software applications such as Microsoft Office products and Google documents. Specific knowledge with video/digital media software. Computer data and mobile phone data extraction software knowledge is preferred.
Ability to be trained both on the job and at various locations in the Crime Scene Technician's duties.
Ability to work inconsistent schedules from week to week and to respond to major crime events during assigned on-call status after regular working hours, on weekends, or any other time as needed.
Knowledge of the legal requirements pertaining to the collection, preservation, and presentation of evidence in criminal and civil trials.

The Crime Scene Technician must gather, maintain, and release evidence and found property. Evidence may be difficult to gather at crime scenes due to size, condition, or nature of the evidence; some evidence may be physically or biologically hazardous. Some crime scenes may be intrinsically hazardous due to poor state of repair, difficult ground condition, weather or other conditions. Items of property sometimes are heavy or bulky to handle. Mistakes in maintaining chain of evidence custody may lead to adverse judicial decisions, may result in inability to carry through with criminal charges against suspects, and may open the Department to criticism and civil liability. Conditions of some crime scenes and evidence and human victims of crime may bring about emotional stress to the Technician. Job duties may be time critical and require urgency or the employee to work reasonable extended hours.
Maintains frequent contact with police officers and detectives, civilian co-workers, representatives of other law enforcement agencies, representatives of various county prosecutor offices, police and civilian laboratories, private attorneys and members of the general public to exchange information, prepare criminal cases, maintain records and reports, and carry out the property management and evidence collection functions. A Seasonal Ranger assists Ranger Operations staff in the upkeep of District preserves, facilities, and amenities, for the purpose of providing clean and safe preserves for the public.
What You'll Do
Perform maintenance, including opening of preserves, de-littering, latrine cleaning, and upkeep of amenities.
Assist with inspections on trails, boundaries, water controls, waterways, dog areas and amenities.
Assist with various recreational programs including but not limited to archery, fishing, paddling, camps, and special events.
Keep neat and accurate records including incident and injury reports, equipment damage reports, and facility logs.
Operate power tools including brush cutters, weed whips, drills, deck mowers, hedge trimmers, and leaf blowers.
Operate District vehicles including pick-up trucks, electric golf carts, and ATVs.
