Counselor III Q(MHP) Key Responsibilities * Provides direct crisis intervention services to clients and families, which include de-escalation, stabilization, and linkage to appropriate levels of care, both in-person and via crisis phone lines * Dispatches into the community to respond to crises as part of the mobile response team. * Works collaboratively with Engagement Specialists to respond to crises as a 2 person team. * Evaluate and assess clients for level of care. * Prepares and implements treatment plans with clients. * Provides therapeutic and supportive services to clients and families. * Answers LCHD local crisis line and 988 crisis line to provide phone crisis intervention to callers. * Creates stabilization plans with clients and links clients to appropriate levels of care. * Provides direct crisis intervention services to clients and families, which include de-escalation, stabilization, and linkage to appropriate levels of care. Scheduled Hours: 16 - 40 hours a week * Available Shifts: * 1st (8:00am-4:30pm) * 2nd (4pm-12:30am) * 3rd (12am-8:30am) * On-call responsibility * $5.00 per hour shift differential for working hours deemed eligible for shift and weekend premium * Associate's degree and five (5) years' experience in behavioral sciences, or * Bachelor's degree and three (3) years' experience in behavioral sciences, or * Bachelor's degree in a related field and one (1) year of experience in behavioral sciences, or * Master's degree in behavioral sciences and no experience * Must possess a valid driver's license. * Requires use of personal vehicle when a LCHD fleet vehicle is not available for outreach activities or to respond to crisis calls in the field.     Adopt-A-Trailhead Montana (AATM) and Pull-Your-Share (PYS) are cooperative volunteer programs that help protect Montana's trails from the spread of noxious weeds. Noxious weeds at trailheads will lead to infested backcountry, city parks, and recreation areas which threatens Montana's tourism economy, wildlife habitat, and native plant communities. These programs aim to stop and control noxious weeds at the trailhead, educate the public about noxious weeds and provide ways they can act against spreading noxious weeds when recreating. AATM started in 2015, and since then there have been 74 kiosks installed with around 42 of those trailheads adopted. Volunteer groups work with state, city or federal agencies to adopt a trailhead or park and are responsible for hosting at least one weed pull per year. PYS was created by a Great Falls teacher and involves both classroom instruction and a field trip where teachers and students pull weeds at a site and learn about natural resource careers. This service member will maintain all current kiosks, recruit volunteer groups for new or existing trailheads without adoptees, conduct kiosk installs, run volunteer days at weed pull events, conduct classroom instruction, host school field trips, maintain social media and outreach for the program, work with other agencies and NGOs to strengthen the program, and assists other noxious weed programs at the department as needed. This position will be in the field and on the road about 40% of the time. The remaining 60% will be conducted in a typical office environment. Your position as a Mobile Response & Stabilization Services (MRSS) Crisis Counselor is crucial to the community, to provide immediate crisis intervention and support to youths and families who may be experiencing significant psychological distress, and need assistance navigating traumatic situations. You will regularly use various computer apps including Microsoft Office, our HRIS, EHR and other online systems, with multiple logins often simultaneously. How you'll make a difference in this role: Under direction of the Clinical Supervisor, you will conduct mental health assessments, evaluate safety concerns, and help develop a comprehensive safety plan or facilitate linkage to a higher level of care. You will offer 72 hours of crisis follow-up or 4-42 days of ongoing stabilization services, with the goal of connecting youth and families to ongoing behavioral health treatment and/or other community resources and supports. Respond to emergent requests for crisis intervention, including phone calls, walk-ins, and mobile referrals. Establish rapport and be instrumental identifying the presenting problem(s), and work collaboratively to resolve the crisis. Administers the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (CSSRS) to determine the appropriate level of care (i.e., safety plan, referral to outpatient behavioral health treatment, referral to crisis stabilization unit, referral to inpatient psychiatric hospital) and assure immediate safety. If hospitalization is not deemed necessary, follow-up stabilization services will be offered, along with collaborative safety planning, which may include education to caregiver(s) on restricting access to lethal means to assure safety and maintain the youth in the least restrictive setting (i.e., their home) while linking to outpatient treatment. If hospitalization or a higher level of care is deemed necessary, efforts to facilitate a warm handoff to alternative crisis supports (i.e., mobile crisis team, crisis stabilization unit, local hospital, law enforcement) in the youth's respective county will be initiated to assure safety and provide linkage to stabilization services. Administer the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths Assessment (CANS) with all stabilization cases and completes an MRSS Plan with all families engaged in stabilization. Complete a comprehensive Discharge and Transition Plan for all stabilization cases, which may include referrals to other internal programs and/or external providers as clinically indicated. Coordinate post-hospital follow-up appointments for high acuity youth who are discharged from hospital Emergency Departments or inpatient psychiatric facilities. Offer supplemental support and consultation to staff members across the organization tending to youth and families in crisis. Attend local meetings addressing crisis trends and collaborates with both internal and external stakeholders to develop a continuum of care for Hancock County youth and families. Who are we?
