G. Irving Russell constructed the first hospital in 1913.
Public hospital service began in Lakeview in 1913.

In 1919 a 70' by 180' lot was purchased for $1,800 and floor plans were developed by Mr.
Doctor Leithead retired in 1946 and Doctor Paul Kliewer acquired his stock.
Doctor Kelty retired in 1948 and Doctor William Strieby acquired his stock. It was completed in 1970 using federal Hill Burton funds.
The old hospital remained empty until 1973 when the commissioners agreed to purchase the building with the intent of using federal funds to completely remodel it.
The 15,000-square-foot cancer care center is to be built on the south portion of the Lake Region Healthcare campus. It is scheduled to open in late 2009 and is to consolidate existing services and provide expanded comprehensive cancer care services, including radiation, to our patients.
