This position involves a variety of tasks, the main tasks are planting and harvesting trees/palms, loading and unloading of products and pruning of trees/palms. The individual will be trained in all job functions and follow Cherrylake's tree maintenance and shifting processes to yield high quality trees and total customer satisfaction. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES Maintain trees to meet Florida #1 standards or better according to Florida grades and standards. Maintain constant shapes between containers or in ground crop sizes when pruning. Follow Cherrylake pruning and staking processes and procedures. Sanitize Equipment between trees when pruning when needed. Stake trees according to Cherrylake procedures. Prep area for plantings, install container pots, slick wall containers and growbags. Shift (transplant) trees from one container size to another. Apply fertilizer and herbicide according to Cherrylake procedures. Apply pesticides as indicated by Pesticide License Applicator (if applicable and trained) Maintain sections clean, free of weeds, leaf litter, suckers, and trash. Operate farm machinery, tools and farm tractors as needed. Maintain equipment to make sure it is in excellent working condition. Mowing, disking of the farm. Load and unload semi-trailers. Install irrigation poly and emitters for new plantings. Perform repairs to the irrigation system as needed, digging / shoveling, PVC pipe repair, poly repair or replacement, etc. Irrigation wet checks to ensure trees are receiving water. Able to pick up and move items and trees up to 50 lbs. Check equipment oil, water and fuel before starting the machine. Report to the team leader or manager issues noticed among the crops such as disease, insect and weed pressure. Assist in picking up trees after storms. Operate an ATV. Follow all CL safety rules, regulations and PPE requirements. All other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS 1+ month of prior experience working in a nursery or tree farm, in cultivation/harvesting and/or installation of commercial plant material, handling both manual and machine tasks associated with commodity production and harvest activities. Prior irrigation maintenance experience is a plus. Basic knowledge of irrigation clocks and electronic valves for troubleshooting purposes. Plant knowledge and identification is a plus. Knowledge of agricultural equipment is a plus. Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus. REQUIRED LICENSES / HOURS OF WORK Valid driver's license and clean driving record a plus. This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Saturday, 40+ hours per work week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
