The focus of the position is on serving individuals under court supervision adjudicated Incompetent to Proceed or Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity consistent with Florida Statute 3.212 and Rules of Criminal Procedure 916. The Forensic Case Manager's goal is to enhance the independence, autonomy and quality of life of the individual served, while ensuring compliance with all judicial requirements to ensure public safety. Requirements Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college with a major in counseling, social work, psychology, criminal justice, rehabilitation, special education, health education, or a related human services field (a related human services field is one in which major course work includes the study of human behavior and development). Must have a minimum of two (2) years of full time or equivalent experience working with adults experiencing mental illness. Must be eligible for enrollment as an Adult Case Manager by the State of Florida. Must be a Certified Behavioral Health Case Manager (CBHCM) through the Florida Certification Board within six (6) months of start date Must have knowledge of available resources in the service area for adults with mental illness. Must have knowledge of and comply with state and federal statutes, rules and policies that effect the target population. Must be able to travel locally to clients' homes, training locations and other locations as necessary. Must be able to provide individualized, integrated mental health, substance abuse and co-occurring services to meet the needs of individuals served and their families. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work within the guidelines established in the policies and procedures of the agency and program. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with multidisciplinary staff. Ability to recognize signs and symptoms of abuse. Ability to effectively relate to a variety of individuals, including persons living with a mental illness and/or substance use disorder, persons with developmental disabilities, family members of persons served, and co-workers. Ability to problem solve and advocate for persons served. Ability to provide services in home, correctional institutions, and non-traditional locations in the community to properly ensure individuals needs are met. Must be able to pass organization screening requirements, including state or federal background screenings as appropriate. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside, a good driving record and be insurable under the corporate policy. Must complete state of Florida required training per Chapter 916 Florida Statute- to include Competency Restoration Training and Forensic Specialist and Diversion Training. Overview: To be considered for an internship at Lakeview Center, a candidate must currently be enrolled as a student in a public or accredited private academic institution. Candidates must possess strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to follow directions and ask questions for clarification of topic. Internship assignments are subject to supervisory capacity and there is no guarantee of placement. Internships are work-based activities in which students engage in learning through practical and relevant experiences at various internship sites. Internships are undertaken by students who are at or near the end of a preparatory academic program. These structured experiences involve the practical application of previously studied theory through course work. Prospective interns should demonstrate that they have acquired the competencies for the internship program and that they are ready to apply and further develop these skills during the internship period. Must currently be enrolled in a Social Work Program. Roles and Responsibilities: Prospective interns should demonstrate that they have acquired the competencies for the internship program and that they are ready to apply and further develop these skills during the internship period. In addition, interns are required to: Adhere to dress and behavior guidelines. Participate in all approved activities structured by the internship supervisor. Complete, sign, and submit all documentation as directed by the internship supervisor by the requested deadline. Communicate with the internship supervisor throughout the internship experience, especially if concerns or problems need to be addressed. Evaluate and share information about the internship experience. Comply with the policies and procedures of Lakeview Center, Inc. Meet established criteria of the internship placement (not seek internships with family members; maintain passing grades, good attendance, and discipline records; etc.). Comply with training requirements. Have reliable transportation to and from the internship site. Cooperate with the intern supervisor; engage in the program as a learning experience; observe business etiquette; and abide by safety rules. Demonstrate honesty, punctuality, respect, courtesy, cooperative attitude, and a willingness to learn both in the training classes and at the internship site. Remain at the assigned internship placement for the duration of the internship period except by mutual agreement of all parties. Maintain confidentiality guidelines.
