Lakeview company history timeline

1984

In 2008, the Commission on Chicago Landmarks designated the building a landmark along with 15 other neighborhood bank buildings. It struggled with vacancy until 1984, when a developer received a federal loan to convert the Montfield Hotel into 54 apartments, maintaining stores on the ground floor.

1990

According to the 1990 census, more than 22,000 residents of Lake View were between the ages of 25 and 44 and lived in “nonfamily” households.

2005

The building was sold again to another developer and the upper floors converted into loft condos in 2005, which are now listed at the address 3150 N. Sheffield.

Streetwise: Urbano's Racetrack Urbano Drive is an oval laid exactly along the lines of the old Ingleside Racetrack, the last venue for horse racing in San Francisco. ( Jan 1, 2005)

2006

2011

Continuing the tradition of excellence, in September 2011, Lane Tech established a six-year Academic Center program and moved from a ninth through twelfth grade program of study to a seventh through twelfth grade program of study. (Credit: Lane Tech College Prep High School)

2013

In March of 2013 Chicago musician and arts presenter Mike Reed opened Constellation in the building that formerly housed the Viaduct Theater.

2017

His new book, “East Lake View,” was published in 2017.
