1950

In the US it started in 1950 A grower called F. Gilbert ‘Gib’ Lamb opens a food processing company called Lamb Weston, in Weston, Oregon (US). He invents the water gun knife.

The company was founded in 1950 by Gilbert Lamb.

1960

Lamb created a potato "gun," the Lamb Water Gun Knife, invented and patented by Lamb in 1960.

1961

By 1961 Gib invented and patented the Lamb Water Gun Knife, which allowed potatoes to be cut mechanically, in uniformly straight pieces (french fries), which gave the company an advantage.

1963

In 1963, a five-person sales force was formed to promote the company's anticipated expansion and a broker network was fleshed out to cover the United States.

1966

Lamb Weston acquired a potato processing plant in Quincy, Washington, in 1966 and another potato processing plant in Connell, Washington, two years later.

1968

The company also opened its first research center in Portland, Oregon, in 1968, having learned first-hand about the significant advantages to be gained from a serious commitment to the research and development of proprietary slicing and processing systems.

1973

Lamb Weston began shipping its potato products to markets in the Pacific Rim, Canada, Mexico, and South America, getting its first taste of overseas demand for processed potato products when it exported its first shipment to Japan in 1973.

1978

A new plant in Richland, Washington, was acquired in 1978 and a second production plant was constructed near Lamb Weston's existing plant in Quincy, Washington, also in 1978.

1983

The company ventures beyond the traditional straight-cut French fry and introduces Twister® Fries, a curly shaped fry in 1983.

1985

In 1985 C. Meijer starts processing potatoes into high quality frozen potato products and flakes.

1986

A major expansion of the company's original potato processing plant in American Falls, Idaho, was completed in 1986 and the following year a potato processing plant in Boardman, Oregon, was acquired to supply the company's growing export business and its markets in the United States.

1988

In 1988 it was acquired by ConAgra Foods corporation.

1991

The acquisition spree started in 1991, when Lamb Weston purchased its first European potato processing plant, a facility in Eemshaven, Holland.

1995

In 1995, Lamb Weston entered a joint venture in Turkey to create Lamb Weston/Dogus, the country's largest frozen potato processor with customers in the eastern Mediterranean region and throughout southeastern Europe.

1996

In 1996, that volume reached mammoth heights, having soared to 3.6 billion pounds.

2004

In 2004 Lamb Foundation instituted a policy of accepting proposals only from organizations that had been invited to submit.

2014

On July 14, 2014, Conagra announced that it had acquired TaiMei Potato Industry Limited, a potato processor in Shangdu, Inner Mongolia.

2016

In November 2016, ConAgra spun off the company to its shareholders.

2016 Expansion of the potato processing factory in Bergen op Zoom (NL) with a premium products line and building a new potato processing factory in a joint venture between LW/M and Belaya Dacha in Lipetsk (RU).

2017

2017 Acquisition of a potato processing factory in Broekhuizenvorst (NL) and opening a sales office in Lagos (NG) with the launch of a new product solution: Poundo Potato.
