    General Overview: The Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Loader and other Heavy Equipment. This position operates loaders equipped with front-mounted hydraulically powered bucket which is used to transport aggregate or other materials, feed hoppers or chutes, and/or stock pile aggregates. Responsibilities: * Operate the Loader and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. * Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment. * Understand and follow directions from supervisors as to required work area. * Operate Loader controls to lower and tilt bucket and drive forward to force bucket into bulk material; Move lever to raise and tilt bucket when filled, or to dump material. * Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance. * Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the Loader. * Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of the Loader. * Attend daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections. * Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others. * Operate other heavy equipment and perform other related duties as required. Essential Responsibilities * Perform highly diversified duties to maintain plant equipment * Provide emergency/ unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service * Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines * Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service * Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments * Perform regular preventative maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities * Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties * Participate in the maintenance On-Call system with qualified Technician. * Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situation to proper supervision * Comply with MSHA regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas * Other duties as assigned Education and Experience * A minimum of (1) or more years of experience maintain heavy equipment, preferably in a sand mining plant. * High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience * Associate degree or technical school equivalent preferred * Welder certification preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Must be able to perform duties in a safe manner * Must have strong welding hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills and experience. * Must be able to work 8-16 hour shifts, weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed * Strong communication skills Working Conditions & Physical Requirements * All duties require outside assignments and require periods of work in all weather conditions-heat, cold, wet or dry and dusty * Safety-sensitivity position * Ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, reach, stoop, squat, tolerate prolonged standing/walking, balance, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects * Ability to operate hand controls with both hands * Ability to operate mobile equipment, foot pedals with both feet * Ability to perform sustained overhead reaching * Ability to work in cramped quarters * Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 150 feet * Ability to tolerate working at heights up to 150 feet All personnel may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time, as needed.
