Annual Base Salary for newly appointed CBPOs varies as follows:
GS-9: $61,111 - $124,443 per year
Note: A fully trained CBPO is eligible for up to $45,000 in overtime pay in addition to the starting salary.
Officers are eligible to select from an array of federal employment benefits that include health, dental and other insurance plans, generous annual and sick leave, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan.
LOCATION INCENTIVES: If you accept one of the duty locations listed below, you may be eligible to receive an additional 15%-25% of your salary each year for the first three (3) years of employment in addition to any overtime pay. Some locations may offer 25% for four (4) years.

Qualifications:
You qualify for the GS-9 grade level in one of the following ways: experience, education, or a combination of both.
Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level that includes:
Detaining suspected violators of federal, state, or local laws and/or arresting violators using the proper law enforcement methods.
Enforcing laws and regulations relating to importing, exporting, and/or international shipping.
Utilizing intelligence techniques and behavior analysis to identify potential threats.
Conducting interviews in a law enforcement capacity.
Education Substitution: A master's (or higher) degree or an LL.B. or J.D. from an accredited college or university; OR
Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of specialized experience AND successfully completed graduate-level education.

Performs accuracy tests on multiple Analyzers, Transducers, and Laboratory Test Kits on a monthly basis.

JOB TITLE: Speech Language Pathologist Assistant HOUR STATUS: Exempt REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education / Supervising Speech Language Pathologist PAY GRADE: AP1/187 days DEPT./SCHOOL: Special Education DATE REVISED: 06/2025 PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) supports the implementation of speech-language services to students identified with communication disorders. Under the direction and supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), the SLPA helps students improve their communication skills to access the general curriculum more effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders.
Licensure:
Licensed as a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
Maintain active licensure in accordance with TDLR and ASHA guidelines (Certificate of Clinical Competency not required for assistants but may apply if applicable).
Required Skills:
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret educational materials, professional journals, and legal regulations. Ability to write clear documentation and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Mathematical Skills:
Basic computation skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and ability to create simple data visuals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Capable of responding to unexpected situations and adapting to changing student needs. Professional demeanor in alignment with district expectations.
Physical Requirements:
Occasionally required to lift up to 45 pounds, assist with mobility, and physically support students. Must be able to sit, kneel, or crouch as needed for therapy sessions.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Provide direct individual and group therapy aligned with students' Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
Collect and input data related to student progress on IEP goals at least weekly.
Collaborate with teachers to incorporate communication strategies within the classroom setting.
Maintain effective communication with supervising SLP, colleagues, students, and parents regarding student needs and progress.
Create and maintain a distraction-free, developmentally appropriate therapy environment.
Collect and organize information and data for IEPs, session notes, and progress reports for SLP review.
Assist with selection and preparation of instructional materials and therapy equipment.
Maintain required documentation including evaluations, daily therapy notes, progress reports, and Medicaid billing.
Keep an up-to-date referral and evaluation database for assigned campuses.
Adhere to federal, state, and local laws, policies, and district procedures.
Participate in professional learning to enhance therapy practices.
Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
May involve extended or irregular hours. Some travel between campuses may be needed.
