Administrative/Biographical History: Lancaster General Hospital opened in December 1893 with the mission to deliver the best possible care to anyone in need, regardless of ability to pay.
The hospital purchased its first motorized ambulance in 1916.

In 2016, LG Health established Eliance Health Solutions, a service that offers companies with 20 or more employees exclusive self-funded health plans and administrative services, along with coordinated LG Health Wellness and Occupational Medicine programs.
Outpatient services are provided at the Downtown and Suburban pavilions, along with additional outpatient facilities and Express and Urgent Care locations throughout the region. It has been recognized regionally and nationally for clinical excellence and patient safety; and ranked nationally by United States News & World Report as one of the nation’s best hospitals in 2016-17.
