The neurosurgery NP or PA will join a dedicated team of providers at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center covering all areas of neurosurgery including spine, cranial, trauma and vascular.
The successful Physician Assistant must be a graduate of an ARC-approved physician assistant program, eligible or certified by the National Commission for the Certification of Physician Assistants and eligible or certified by the State Board of Medicine.
The successful Nurse Practitioner candidate will have a certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners and must be eligible for or certified by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. An acute care certification is required for this position. Must be certified to work with all patient population age groups.

This APP role would be largely outpatient with on-call responsibilities. The office location would be in Parkesburg; however, travel would be required to Lancaster General Hospital on surgery days. This APP will oversee post-operative care in the outpatient setting, perform minor procedures such as joint injections, complete workup for new consultations to our practice as well as fulfilling the first assistant role in the OR approximately 2 days/week.
Hours: Fulltime (1.0 FTE), with hours generally falling between 7am - 5pm. The position includes rotating holiday coverage and 1 week of on-call on an every 6?8-week rotation.

SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital's robotic surgery capabilities are unmatched in the region, positioning us as one of only a handful of centers nationwide with the ability to offer robotic cardiac as well as thoracic surgery. We perform the whole gamut of adult cardiac and thoracic surgery including CABG, Valve surgery, Aortic aneurysms and dissections, pulmonary resections and decortications. We do not perform ventricular assist devices.
As the ideal candidate, you would have surgical first assist experience and a strong attraction to the operating room. Must be able to function and thrive within a high-functioning team. The new providers responsibilities will include assisting in the operating room (including endoscopic and open vein and radial artery harvesting); patient care on the Cardiothoracic Surgery in-patient unit; night call on weeknights and weekends (anticipated 1 in 6 for each) for floor patients and for the operating room; and rare outpatient clinic care. For weekends, rounds and then call from home for OR. There are full time intensivists for patient care. The floor patients are managed by physician assistants and call is from home over the phone.

Responsible for greeting candidates, employees, volunteers and updating various pertinent information into the medical record.
Directs examinee to the examination room and prepares for them the services needed.
Interviews candidate/volunteer/employee to obtain medical history. Determines vital signs, (weight, temperature, blood pressure, vision, hearing, etc), and documents in the patient's medical record.
Conduct respirator fit testing and urine drug screening.
Process ancillary reports and all other candidate/volunteer/employee results to the provider for review and assists with patient communication. 7. Routes examinee after exam to proper area for visit completion.
Performs duties such as, phlebotomy, EKG's, specimen collection, assisting with procedures, etc. Ensures accurate specimen labeling in compliance with clinic protocol.
Cleans, stocks, and prepares exam rooms.
Maintains equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and clinic policies and procedures. Performs and documents quality control on equipment as required.
Applies principles of disinfection/sterilization/disease transmission/universal precautions as per clinic and manufacturer guidelines.
Maintains confidentiality, respect and consideration of employee and others. Applies Guthrie values (patient centeredness, teamwork, excellence) when performing daily tasks.
Assists in maintaining appropriate level of supplies.
Answers telephones and schedules patient appointments. Takes messages of a medical nature (requests for prescription refills, test results, etc). Performs other clerical functions as necessary.
Exhibits excellent telephone etiquette.
Coordinate candidate/examinee/volunteer appointments.
File employee health charts based on last name and keep the employee/volunteer charts filed in an orderly manner and keep the file room organized and clean.
Must be willing to cross train and perform other assigned duties as needed.
Attend new employee orientation and all mandatory events such as in‐ services/classes/training as required by the organization.
Complies with the dress code policy as set forth by Guthrie.
Attends and participates in Department meetings, along with contributing to department/office goals.
Other Duties:
Travel for this position is sometimes required.
Participation in community and employee engagement activities is required.
