Position Overview:
The Police Officer will play a critical role in maintaining public safety through extensive community engagement and partnering with other civil service entities and
community-based organizations to solve problems and enforce laws and ordinances; protect life and property; issue citations, make arrests, prepare reports; meet with
community members; work in a team environment; and provide information to the
public and departmental units. Under the supervision of a Sergeant, work assignments and schedules that may vary depending on the needs of the community and
department.
Distinguishing Features:
A Police Officer is responsible for enforcing all the laws and ordinances within the
jurisdiction of the Police Department. When engaged in enforcement activity, a Police Officer may work alone or as a team member. Assignments/duties may be assigned based on various factors, including but not limited to, addressing quality of life issues,
enforcing penal and vehicle code laws and investigating / preventing crime. Officers may also independently initiate actions based on these other factors related to public safety. Often the work is performed under hazardous conditions without direct
supervision, decisions affecting life and property are often made under stress. The duties of a Police Officer require considerable community engagement meant to foster partnerships and support. As a result, employees of this class must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, including being caring, fair, unbiased, and sensitive when dealing with people of diverse backgrounds.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Receives supervision from a Lancaster Police Sergeant or a higher-ranking sworn officer. May provide technical guidance to non-sworn personnel.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:
Patrols community on foot, in a police vehicle or motorcycle to enhance public safety.
Respond to routine, priority, or emergency calls for police assistance.

Minimum Qualifications:
Lateral Officer or a recent POST academy graduate or current deputy assigned to a correctional facility seeking a patrol assignment.
Valid California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong problem-solving capabilities, especially in high-pressure and/or adverse situations.
Knowledge of California state laws, codes, and regulations.
Ability to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Possess a valid California class “C” Driver's License.
Must meet all POST requirements to be a Peace Officer, to include SB2 requirements.
Must not be under any active investigation with any Law Enforcement agency or with CA POST regarding misconduct outlined in SB2.
Valid California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification. Possession of California POST Basic Certificate or higher required.
Knowledge in using modern law enforcement technology and software.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The Senior Plant Operator is the responsible shift lead operator level classification in the Plant Operator series. Positions assigned to this class are expected to independently perform the full range of plant operation and monitoring duties on an assigned shift. This class is distinguished from the next higher class of Supervising Plant Operator in that the latter is assigned full responsibility for drinking water or wastewater operations, including the direct supervision, technical and functional oversight, direction and coordination of all shifts on a 24-hour basis. This class is distinguished from the next lower class of Plant Operator in that the latter are journey-level positions not responsible for being the responsible shift lead operator.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
General supervision is provided by a Superintendent and/or the Supervising Plant Operator. Responsibilities require the technical and functional supervision and lead direction of lower-level plant personnel.EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Lead and participate in the operation, monitoring, and control of the City's combined wastewater control system, conventional surface water treatment plants, and outlying pumping stations on an assigned shift.
* Participate in and direct the operation of plant equipment including chemical feed, computer, and telemetry systems, microprocessors, pumps, flow control gates, and plant communications systems.
* Plan the operation of the City's entire potable water treatment and distribution system for an assigned shift including anticipating water demand, hour by hour, and adjusting plant influents, effluents and reservoir filling and drawing to maintain pressure in the distribution system within given parameters.
* Plan and schedule water treatment plant activities such as filter backwashes, sludge pumping, filter washwater recycling and other related activities.
* Monitor water quality during treatment process through visual inspection and the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system and adjust influent flows, chemical dosages and filtration rates based on observations; take corrective action on problems identified including hazardous or toxic material spills that affect water supplies.
* Coordinate and maintain wastewater pumping operations in conjunction with the Sacramento Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant.
* Monitor and inspect plant equipment and respond to treatment process and equipment alarms.
* Monitor the condition and functional capabilities of automated and manual plant equipment and machinery; direct and perform minor preventive maintenance and recommend maintenance, repair, and replacement of plant equipment as necessary.
* Assess and gauge flow rates during inclement weather and determine when to direct storm water and personnel to various storage and disposal locations; determine timing and degree to which operations should be activated and deactivated.
* Perform and interpret standardized water quality tests such as chlorine residual, pH, turbidity, alkalinity, total suspended solids, settleable solids, chlorine residual, pH, dissolved oxygen and jar tests, and calculate and make dosage and related chemical feed equipment adjustments based upon the results from such tests.
* Perform efficiency tests on pumps, compressors, and related equipment.
* Monitor the status of plant pumping and equipment, using technical information such as main pressure, system pressure, wet well elevation, water elevations, electrical system voltages, pump motor voltages, and computer system outputs.
* Direct and coordinate trash screen cleaning, filters, and related work involving the upkeep of plant facilities.
* Maintain and update plant operation logs and records.
* Use Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and computerized maintenance management systems.
* Maintain and replenish materials and supplies necessary for plant operation.
* Operate equipment such as engine driven pumps, generators, compressors, hoists, forklifts, cranes and other heavy equipment.
* Schedule and coordinate the work of assigned plant operation personnel.
* Train and assist less experienced personnel in plant operations; ensure that proper safety practices are followed.
* Work in confined spaces, on temporary scaffolding, and on high structures; using breathing apparatus and/or Level I Hazmat suits.

The City of San José is hiring an Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Services (PBCS) Technical Lead (Enterprise Supervising Technology Analyst) to provide technical support for Oracle PBCS which is used to prepare the City's Capital, Operating, and Revenue Budgets. The PBCS Technical Lead will also support the three custom budget applications: Fees and Charges, Ordinance Tracking, and Budget to Finance ERP Interface and the Budget Office (BO). The BO is responsible for developing and managing the City's operating and capital budgets and service fees and charges. Supervising Engineering Technician's duties will include the preparation and review of legal descriptions, plat maps, covenant agreements, special agreements, public street and utility abandonments, deeds, and boundary, title and easement research and review and approval of subdivision maps.
The successful candidate will work within the Planning section in the Public Works Department. The section provides essential services to the Public and other City Departments including, but not limited to, the preparation and review of, CEQA documents, transportation planning documents, interdepartmental planning documents, and community engagement activities and meetings. Position Duties
The City of San José - San José Mineta International Airport is seeking a highly skilled Air Conditioning Mechanic to perform work in the installation, operation, adjustment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of heating, ventilation, refrigerating and cooling (HVAC) systems, and all auxiliary equipment including Building Management Systems (BMS), Power Management Systems (PMS), and Central Plant operations. Lifeguard II
Working under general supervision, the position is the journey level in the series. Employees at this level require specific experience and less supervision and review to complete assignments. Essential and other important responsibilities and functions may include, but are not limited to, the following:

The Requirements
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in business administration, public administration, accounting or a related field.
