We are looking for a Maintenance & Landscape Technician for our Glen Allen location in Richmond, Virginia. The Maintenance & Landscape Technician will work closely with their Facility Manager as well as the Head of the Pack to achieve objectives and goals of the individual facility and the betterment of our company.
The responsibilities of a Maintenance & Landscape Technician for Holiday Barn Pet Resorts include:
Integrate with leadership "pack" and peers to communicate necessary facility needs.
Troubleshoot maintenance needs.
Advise Facility Manager and/or "Head of the Pack" of repair status.
Work with Holiday Barn Pack work to maintain the best "Physical Brochure" possible.
Respond to work area problems, assess, and provide timely repairs.
Ensure other maintenance employee(s) or service vendors have tools and supplies needed as well as keeping maintenance equipment in good working condition.
Perform all other responsibilities assigned by immediate manager.
Develop cost savings initiatives.
Practice and promote safety procedures in all areas of responsibility and address unsafe work conditions.
Inspection of all HVAC, generator, and boiler systems, making repairs as needed or utilizing outside company approved contractors for complex repairs.
Inspection of all electrical and lighting systems, making repairs as needed or utilizing outside company approved contractors for complex repairs.
Assess and help carry out facility landscape needs such as mowing, edging, tree trimming, driveway repair, snow removal, etc. as needed.
Resource necessary parts and equipment for repairs and projects.
Keep records of repairs and preventative maintenance activities.
Basic Requirements
General knowledge of great maintenance practices, standards, and concepts.
Demonstrated ability to identify and implement detailed solutions to facility related problems with a proactive approach.
Solid understanding of facilities maintenance including environmental and energy systems, painting, HVAC, fire suppression, compressed air systems, minor carpentry and landscape equipment operation.
Minimum of 5 years working experience.
HVAC or electrical certification is a plus, but not necessary if candidate has proven experience in those areas.
Basic computer skills.
Team player.
Valid driver's license and have reliable transportation.
Proven track record of attendance and reliability.
Flexibility to respond to "off-hour" emergency situations and facility needs.
Walk, stand, bend, pull, push to move objects, pick up and carry items up to 75lbs.

Required Skills/Abilities
The position requires employees to work from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with flexibility in hours during seasonal events or based on weather conditions and the Academy's needs. Employees must be available to assist with the setup and breakdown of tents, tables, and chairs for special events and graduation. A strong knowledge of landscaping best practices is essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively with managers and supervisors.
Candidates must also pass a background check/drug test and participate in random drug testing.
Education and Experience: Prior landscaping or grounds experience preferred and a military background is favorable but not required.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands of the role include the ability to climb up to three flights of stairs, push, pull, or lift up to 80 pounds, and perform tasks that require sitting, standing, twisting, kneeling, or squatting. Employees must be able to raise their arms overhead as needed and perform outdoor work in various weather conditions. Additionally, they must be able to work for extended periods on various tasks as required.

The Association is a self-managed, non-profit organization responsible for the property management and promotion of members recreation, health, safety, and welfare. The Maintenance Division is responsible for maintaining Community amenities to include a Clubhouse, swimming pools and associated facilities, a tennis court, parks and playgrounds, walking trails, and roughly 200 acres of common area or "green belt" including 5.5 miles of canals with 11 miles of shoreline. Maintaining Association owned amenities and properties has a direct effect on the aesthetics of the Community, property values, and quality of life in Green Run.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent reports directly to the Assistant Maintenance Manager and takes direction from a team leader. He/she performs work in the maintenance, care, and modification of Association owned grounds and landscapes which includes the operation of electrically-powered and gasoline-powered equipment and machines, and the use of small hand and power tools or equipment in planting, cultivating, and trimming grounds and landscaping. Specific tasks and duties include:
a. Works to complete planned jobs to maintain common areas in accordance with Team Leader direction. Follows established safety measures and wearing of proper personal protective equipment during operations.
Mow, edge, and fertilize lawns
Weed and mulch landscape beds

As a member of our team, you will be responsible for performing grounds maintenance operations for the Facilities Management Services Group. This includes, but is not limited to, trimming and mowing grass, shrubs, etc.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Trimming and/or mowing of all grass and other vegetation throughout the entire facility.
Trimming of shrubs, hedges, and trees with appropriate tools.
Edging to maintain a clear area from 1/2 inch of all pavements, curbs, and sidewalk edges.
Continual maintenance of landscaped areas and flower beds which includes removal of weeds, planting of flowers, application of mulch and watering of plants.
Minor clean up of areas using rakes and brooms and loading of debris and trash on trucks for disposal in designated areas.
Routine policing of grounds for loose trash and pick up of trash from outdoor receptacles throughout the facility.
Cleaning and maintenance of sand areas at playgrounds.
Cleaning of houses, minor renovations such as, but not limited to; carpet removal, cabinet removal, appliance removal, and other items are required or requested.
Setup, tear down, and relocating security fencing on off-site projects.
Requirements and Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have three years general experience in this or similar field.
Ability to work in inclement weather including temperature extremes, rain, and snow.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to do repetitious bending at the waist, kneeling, and overhead lifting.
