Pros of working at Landstar System

Nothing

Cons of working at Landstar System

This company has the DUMBEST requirements I have ever heard. As an owner operator, and driver since 1995, I was disqualified to work for Landstar because I drove 500-600 miles one way with 3 to 4 stops. The recruiter and her supervisor said I needed to drive 300 miles one way making a single stop to a single customer. Also if a driver drives 500-600 miles and stays in a hotel and not sleep in the truck that is disqualifying as well. If a driver had just finished driver school for a year they will qualify to be owner operator. I asked the staffers to repeat these policies again and they repeated the same thing. I asked them to email me that policy and I still have not received the email or phone call. There are only 8% african american working there period. The operator is black. Major of the drivers are white with latino coming in their with 19 %. I have more than 3 million miles of safe driving with several awards before retiring in 2012 from the United States Dept of justice where I drove tanker, flatbed, and 47 passenger bus for the United States marshal service. Since I owned my own truck they said I can't use my own company and reference. So when I heard the female supervisor in the background stating" I told you who was". Well I have never met any staff at Landstar. They wouldn't know me if they saw me. I took that as a racial tone. She just could not accept the fact I am very intelligence about federal law and policy when it came to commercial transportation. Just as I got off of the phone I received and offer and took my drug test today. So please stay away from Landstar if you are a minority owned company. They are a billion dollar company but how much of that is government back 💰.
